The Role:
Description:
The Policy Scholar will specifically focus on ways to strengthen Texas's Election Code, and election rules and processes to improve the accuracy and reliability of free and fair elections. This position will conduct in-depth research supporting the Election Integrity campaign legislative priorities, develop policy recommendations, and advocate for reforms that advance the Foundation's goals.
The ideal candidate for this role is inquisitive and entrepreneurial, with demonstrated knowledge and experience in election administration and law.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct original research and quantitative/qualitative analysis of election administration and law
  • Produce high-quality scholarship with the aim of academic publication
  • Educate lawmakers and members of the public on complex issues impacting the ability of Texas to consistently oversee free and fair elections free of defects
  • Assist the Election Integrity campaign with the development of policy recommendations
  • Provide formal testimony, as needed, in legislative hearings and other public forums
  • Take advantage of both internal and external ongoing development opportunities
  • Represent the Foundation in media as required.
Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of experience in election administration or law
  • Demonstratable ability to produce top-tier academic research
  • Strong research and writing abilities
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skillset, including experience with Microsoft Excel and statistical software packages like SPSS, Stata, R, and the like
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or law degree
