This is an onsite role in Petaluma.**How you will make an impact:** • Develop and execute system-level verification strategies aligned with customer expectations and telecommunications industry requirements. • Apply product development lifecycle methodologies to support continuous improvement in system quality across releases. • Design, implement, and automate test strategies and system applications within laboratory environments. • Validate new features introduced in each system release and accurately report results in test databases. • Perform regression and backward-compatibility testing to ensure consistent performance across releases. • Identify, document, and track defects to closure to support compliance with customer and industry standards. • Maintain and scale laboratory system environments to support evolving product lines.**The must haves:** • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. • Hands-on experience with Linux-based operating systems and test automation using an object-oriented language, preferably Python. • Experience interfacing with JSON files and MongoDB databases. • Technical knowledge of Passive Optical Network (PON) systems. • Experience working with network interfaces such as serial, General Purpose Interface Bus (GPIB), Universal Serial Bus (USB), and Ethernet. • Proven debugging and troubleshooting skills across system-level environments. • Working knowledge of customer and industry requirements from telecommunications carriers and cable providers, including standards bodies such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), International Telecommunication Union – Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T), Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS), and Telcordia.**Nice to haves:** • Familiarity with vendor-specific application programming interfaces (APIs) and Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI). • Experience working with test and network equipment command-line interfaces. • Knowledge of physical layer concepts related to fiber optic systems. • Exposure to system-level testing in a telecommunications or networking environment. • Experience contributing to or maintaining scalable lab environments.**Pay Range:** The annual pay range for this position in Petaluma is $127, 100.00 - $203, 000.00 USD.#LI-JDPay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
