Description

OCH Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer for a position supporting an FAA program. The role is responsible for preparing and maintaining technical and administrative documentation, creating briefing and presentation materials, drafting meeting minutes, and supporting the preparation of program deliverables. 


 This posting is intended to build a talent pipeline for anticipated future opportunities.  


Location:  

Hybrid- FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center - Egg Harbor, NJ


Core Responsibilities & Duties 

  • Build detailed architectural diagrams of both virtual and physical infrastructure environments.
  • Work with the PM and Government PMO to develop a consistent, uniform style and language. 
  • Create detailed diagrams illustrating network and infrastructure layouts, clear visualization and understanding of system architecture.  
  • Collaborate on the development of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Collaborate and coordinate across functional teams including developers, engineers and testers for various projects.   
  • Establish the overall organizational layout and editorial standards of the submissions. 
  • Conduct research and ensuring the use of proper technical terminology. 
  • Assist with physical and virtual inventory management 
  • Perform gap analysis and identifying areas for documentation improvement by interviewing technical SMEs and/or performing documentation reviews.

Responsibilities may evolve over time to support team and organizational goals, but will remain consistent with the overall scope of the role.   

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
 

Education: 

Bachelor's degree in technical writing, English, or an IT-related field  


Experience: 

  • A minimum of three (3)+ years of relevant experience 
  • Experience as a technical writer in an IT environment 
  • Experience composing technical documents including Standard Operating procedures (SOPs), user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports 
  • Experience with Visio, Draw.io 
  • Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) 
  • Experience with Agile practices like Scrum, Kanban 
  • Experience developing system documentation including system design documents, architecture documentation, diagrams, etc. 

Security Clearance Requirement:  


Candidate must have the ability to hold and maintain a Secret Clearance 


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior government contract experience, particularly supporting FAA, DoD, DHS, or other federal agencies.  
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Assets/Insight 
  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure concepts (networking, servers, databases, cloud) 
  • Experience maintaining and creating detailed documentation (Hardware, Virtual) 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, and Visio

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
