Aquila Technology is seeking a Technical Writer to join our growing team to support one of the nation's leading defense research organizations. The ideal candidate will have proven technical writing experience, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong time management abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining clear, accurate, and well-organized technical documentation while translating complex technical information into content that is accessible to a variety of audiences. This role supports mission-critical programs and requires a high level of attention to detail, organization, and professionalism.

Must Have:

  • 5 years Document management
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years Presentation Design, Poster Design, Document Design, Technical Illustrations, and Photo Manipulation
  • 5 years Technical Writing
  • 5 years Creating presentations for stakeholders, including content aggregation
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication
  • 5 years Adobe software (Acrobat, InDesign)
  • 5 years MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
  • 5 years Test Procedure Composition
  • 5 years Create and maintain the content on web pages and wikis

Nice to Have:

  • Currently holds a Secret Clearance (OR a higher clearance)

Required:
The technical writer must be experienced in the needs of an engineering and fabrication environment, pay attention to detail, and work with a variety of interdisciplinary staff to determine documentation needs and solutions that meet the rigorous criteria standards.

  • Minimum education requirements are a BS/BA with proven writing, copy editing and organizational skills
  • The candidate should have five or more years of experience in technical writing
  • Experience writing manuals, test plans and procedures in engineering based environments
  • The candidate must be a self-starter and able to manage a diverse work load
  • Computer skill requirements include MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint

Preferred:

  • A background in science and/or technology is preferred
  • Experience with hardware documentation
  • Experience using of digital engineering methods
  • Experience with single sourcing and component content management
  • LaTeX experience

Tuition & Training Reimbursement- 5K annually for pre-approved, Eligible full-time team members who have completed a minimum ofsix (6) monthsof employment may apply for tuition reimbursement for approved, job-related courses taken through an accredited college or university. Team members must achieve a grade of “B” or better to qualify for reimbursement.Aquila will reimburse up to $5,000 per fiscal year for tuition expenses only. Expenses related to training programs, certifications, books, materials, meals, transportation, or other non-tuition costs are not eligible under the Tuition Reimbursement Program. All tuition reimbursement requests must be submitted to and approved by the team member's Manager prior to course registration. Reimbursement will be issued upon successful course completion and submission of final grades and proof of payment.

401K with Fidelity - Eligible to participate following 90 days of employment. Company match on employee contribution:

  • $1/$1 up to 3%, then .50 cents / $1 for 4th and 5th %s
  • Fully vested from day one
  • Company match does not apply to catch-up contribution

Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursedup to $150 monthly to cover cell phone, data, and home internet expenses. Aquila Technology will reimburse team members who work from home ONLY for cell phone/mobile device fees for work-related communications and/or operations each month. Employees eligible for this benefit must work remote 2 days a week or more to qualify.

Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) - Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services. To qualify for this benefit, employees must have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment and must agree to and sign the Device Minimum Configuration Form prior to reimbursement. Electronic devices eligible under the Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) program are limited to cell phones, laptops, and tablets.

Work Schedule: The candidate should expect to be onsite 5 days a week with some flexibility for occasional remote work. Must be within 100 miles from Lexington, MA

Clearance Level: Interim clearance is sufficient for start.

Interview process: Initial phone/Zoom screen with hiring manager. Second round interviews will be onsite with a larger group interview
