Job description

Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Institute is seeking a Technical Programs Manager responsible for overseeing technical (TEC) sub-award projects for our consortium members. If you have experience working with the Department of Defense and a passion and understanding for advanced manufacturing and robotics, this is going to be your gold medal organization!

As a federally funded national institute, the ARM Institute’s mission is to accelerate the development and adoption of innovative robotics technologies that are the foundation of every advanced manufacturing activity today and into the future. Reporting to the Director of Technology Initiatives, you will play a key role in our success. 

The Technical PM ensures project deliverables and outcomes are on time and on budget, measures project performance along technical and logistic dimensions, and develops mitigation plans when adverse scenarios develop.
This is a hybrid position that requires occasional on-site work at our Pittsburgh office, located in Hazelwood. Must be a US Citizen. 
What you'll do:
  • Manage technical projects to ensure that projects are delivered along their scope, quality, time, and cost as defined in their respective sub-awards.
  • Organize project resources and activities and monitor progress against project deliverables.
  • Manage development and verification-validation-qualification programs to ensure that projects are executed, and deliverables are delivered along their scope, quality, time, and cost as defined in their contracts.
  • Actively monitor and forecast budget, deliverables, and evaluate outcomes of projects.
  • Conduct periodic assessments of planning, scheduling and budget & risk for projects.
  • Measure and report on project performance along technical and logistic dimensions.
  • Act as first line of communication for sub-awardees to provide management guidance. Engage project investigators to develop mitigation plans when necessary.
  • Define and develop best practices, processes, and policy related to projects to ensure alignment with ARM’s business strategies and goals, in conjunction with leadership
  • Advise and help support compliance of all aspects of program contracts and sub-awarded projects, including financial, deliverables, and milestones.
Successful Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or physical science or similar field required. Demonstrated related experience may substitute for preferred education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering design, integration or test experience on a development or manufacturing program or industrial automation preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience desired. Licensed as PMP, PMI; or equivalent preferred.
