Job description

State Contracting is seeking an experienced Construction Operations Manager to oversee all business aspects, including project execution, financial performance, team leadership, and client relationships. The ideal candidate brings strong heavy civil construction expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to lead in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for company operations and field personnel.

  • Oversee project management from pre-construction through final closeout and completion.

  • Manage master scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation across multiple job sites.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between owners, general contractors, and internal project teams.

  • Lead and develop employees including performance management and compensation reviews.

  • Review, negotiate, and manage prime contracts and subcontracts throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Oversee budgeting, cost control, and overall company financial performance.

  • Ensure timely and accurate project billing and submission of payment applications.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of leadership experience in construction management or a related field.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of site work, utility, and roadway construction practices.

  • Direct familiarity with NCDOT Standards and Specifications for infrastructure projects.

  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, project controls, and risk management.

  • Proficiency in construction management software and accounting tools such as QuickBooks.
