PLANT OPERATIONS MANAGER – AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING


Location: Plymouth, MI
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Industry: Automotive / Tier 1 Manufacturing
Reports To: Plant Operations Manager
Salary: Up to $135,000, based on experience + BONUS


JOB SUMMARY


Deepview is seeking an experienced Production Manager for a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing operation in Plymouth, MI.


The Production Manager will report directly to the Plant Operations Manager and will be responsible for leading day-to-day production operations, managing production supervisors and hourly employees, and ensuring the plant meets its safety, quality, delivery, labor, and productivity goals.


This position requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable being on the production floor, developing supervisors, addressing operational issues, and driving accountability across the manufacturing team.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


• Lead daily production operations across assigned manufacturing and assembly areas.

• Manage, coach, and develop Production Supervisors and hourly production employees.

• Ensure production schedules, customer requirements, and daily operating targets are achieved.

• Monitor and drive plant KPIs including OEE, labor efficiency, attendance, production plan versus actual, throughput, takt time, cycle time, scrap, downtime, and schedule adherence.

• Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and respond quickly to operational issues.

• Drive accountability for safety, quality, productivity, labor utilization, and delivery performance.

• Partner closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Human Resources.

• Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.

• Improve labor efficiency, manpower utilization, and overall production performance.

• Support employee training and cross-training initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with plant safety policies and manufacturing procedures.

• Participate in new product launches, process improvements, and manufacturing optimization projects.

• Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.


QUALIFICATIONS


• Previous Production Manager or senior production leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Automotive or Tier 1 automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

• Experience managing Production Supervisors and large hourly workforces.

• Strong understanding of high-volume manufacturing and assembly operations.

• Experience managing production using measurable KPIs.

• Strong knowledge of OEE, labor efficiency, throughput, downtime, scrap, and production scheduling.

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and problem solving.

• Strong leadership and employee development skills.

• Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Materials, and HR.

• Strong communication, organization, and decision-making abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE


Candidates with experience in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing, automotive assembly, plastics, lighting, electronics, interiors, exterior systems, or other high-volume automotive component manufacturing environments are highly encouraged to apply.
