Job description

G‑3 Chickadee—formerly part of Goodyear Chemical—is undergoing a major transformation. As a newly independent, Private Equity–backed organization, we are modernizing our infrastructure, implementing new systems (SAP, MES, cybersecurity), and building a strong operational foundation for continued growth. Local candidates preferred due to proximity to the worksite and interview/ onboarding logistics. Relocation is not available.

We are seeking a Technical Manager, reporting to the Manufacturing Director, to serve as a member of the Beaumont Chemical Leadership Team and play a key role in defining and implementing the technical strategy for the Beaumont site. This role is responsible for managing the technical support staff and the process controls and modeling group. This position will provide leadership for the plant process safety management function.


The Technical Manager will work with the Chemical Research and Development (R&D) organization on new product development strategies and all phases including research, trials, and field execution. This role will provide technical support and expertise to ensure a smooth transition of new product scale-up for plant.


The Technical Manager will identify and provide technical leadership for development/implementation of new process technologies/automation - Supporting new and/or existing products and businesses. The position will also provide technical leadership for process optimization of existing processes - Improving raw material/energy efficiencies, productivity and product quality.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical guidance to the R&D organization on technology/product creation projects - Ensuring successful scale-up for the plant
  • Provide leadership for the plant PSM/RMP systems to maintain compliance and identifying/implementing system improvements
  • Work with Operations/Leadership groups to identify and implement opportunities for improved raw/energy efficiencies, productivity and quality
  • Provide technical leadership regarding development/implementation of new process technologies, process controls and process modeling opportunities
  • Provide technical support for alternate raw material source programs to improve security of supply or reduced cost
  • Lead the plant Process Controls Group ensuring support/improvement plans are in place for safe/consistent operations
  • Support the plant's production units to resolve technical issues and support alternate raw material source qualification for security of supply and cost savings


What You Bring

Required


  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
  • 3 or more years of experience as a Project Leader in Chemical Plant or R&D projects
  • 5 or more years of experience working on plant technical issues and improving plant efficiencies


Preferred

  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering
  • Understand the Chemical division's products, processes and markets or similar products in the industry
  • Understand polymer and chemical processes (from an engineering perspective)
  • Able to effectively lead associates
  • Preferred experience in solution polymerization technologies and polymer manufacturing, but not required
