Position Summary and Purpose
The Manager, Healthcare Strategy & Transformation plays a critical role in advancing the strategic priorities of UofL Health, an integrated academic healthcare system in partnership with the University of Louisville. This role provides enterprise-level strategy, transformation, and growth support to senior clinical, academic, and operational leaders across UofL Health.
The Manager partners closely with physician leaders, hospital executives, academic deans, and functional executives to shape the future of UofL Health by leading high-impact strategic initiatives across the clinical, research, and education missions. The role is accountable for driving complex initiatives with limited oversight, overseeing the full lifecycle from concept development through execution and value realization.
This position requires strong independent ownership, comfort navigating a highly matrixed academic health system, and demonstrated ability to translate market insights, analytics, and best practices into actionable strategies aligned with UofL Health's mission to improve the health of communities across Kentucky and the region.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Leadership & Initiative Delivery
Acts as a strategic advisor to UofL Health executives and physician leaders on enterprise-level priorities, growth opportunities, and transformation initiatives.
Leads the formulation and execution of strategic initiatives, including defining objectives, success metrics, governance, workplans, and timelines.
Manages multiple complex workstreams simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and leadership expectations.
Independently drives progress, proactively identifies risks and opportunities, and course-corrects as needed to ensure value delivery.
Analysis, Market Intelligence & Decision Support
Develops and applies market intelligence, competitive insights, and quantitative analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
Conducts financial modeling, scenario analysis, and business case development to assess growth, investment, and optimization opportunities.
Designs and executes complex quantitative and qualitative analyses, including primary research where appropriate.
Translates external healthcare industry trends, academic medicine best practices, and regulatory dynamics into UofL Health specific strategic recommendations.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Synthesizes analyses into clear, compelling executive-level presentations and recommendations.
Presents findings to strategy leadership, physician and operational leaders, and UofL Health executive leadership.
Builds trusted relationships across clinical, academic, operational, and administrative teams to ensure strategies are grounded in real-world constraints and opportunities.
Collaborates effectively across organizational boundaries, reinforcing a positive image of the Strategy & Transformation function.
Data, Tools & Innovation
Manages and analyzes large, complex financial, operational, and strategic datasets using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and related platforms.
Demonstrates eagerness to experiment with and responsibly leverage emerging analytics and AI-enabled tools to enhance insight generation and efficiency.
Team Contribution & Leadership
Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence and sophistication in navigating complex stakeholder environments.

Owns enterprise strategy work spanning patient care delivery, research growth, and education missions, ensuring alignment across all three.
Works effectively across schools, departments, institutes, hospitals, and shared services functions within the UofL Health and University of Louisville partnership.
Leads enterprise strategy and decision support for growth, access, quality, and financial sustainability, including development of integrated business cases addressing strategic rationale, operational feasibility, market impact, and financial performance.

Job Requirements
(Education, Experience, Licensure and Certification)
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required. Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MHA, or similar) highly preferred.
Experience: 4+ years of relevant professional experience or 3+ years of experience at a top-tier management consulting firm (inclusive of time enrolled in an advanced degree, if applicable).
Experience in healthcare strategy, transformation, or business development strongly preferred.
Academic health system experience preferred.
People management or team leadership experience preferred.
