Job description

As the Business Development Manager, you will assume a leadership role in developing and nurturing professional relationships with discharge planners, physicians, clinicians, and other referral sources in the area. You will educate team members, referring hospital staff, patients and patient families regarding services provided by Hospice.
Specific responsibilities of the Business Development Manger include:

  • Develop new business opportunities in new and existing markets.

  • Manage and implement census development strategies for assigned area.

  • Establish results-producing relationships with the referral community including physicians, discharge planners and payers.

  • Understand key drivers of revenue and growth and design strategic sales strategies to achieve agency growth goals.

  • Educate team members and referral sources about Hospice services as related to industry changes, specific clinical programs and capabilities and outcomes.

  • Works in conjunction with represented agencies on quarterly sales plans as well as weekly and monthly marketing and sales meetings.

  • Provides support to other agency liaisons.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in hospice business development preferred

  • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and relationship building skills

  • Three (3) or more years of professional sales experience, preferably in the health care industry

  • Demonstrate history of positive sales results

  • Possess a positive, professional business image

  • Understands and can communicate strategic plans

  • Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers, referral sources and the community

  • Flexibility to work occasional evening or weekends to attend functions and events

  • Valid driver’s license with maintenance of good driving record and an automobile that is insured in accordance with state.

  • Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision

  • Combination of office-based work and field visits

  • Travel within the local service area required
