Job description

Welcome to the Agentic Commerce Era

At Commerce, our mission is to empower businesses to innovate, grow, and thrive with our open, AI-driven commerce ecosystem. As the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, we connect the tools and systems that power growth, enabling businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, deliver seamless and personalized experiences across every channel, and adapt swiftly to an ever-changing market. We believe in harnessing AI responsibly to unlock new possibilities, and we're looking for individuals who use it intentionally to solve problems, accelerate outcomes, and expand what's possible in their role. Our purpose is to help businesses confidently solve complex commerce challenges so they can build smarter, adapt faster, and grow on their own terms. If you want to be part of a team of bold builders, sharp thinkers, and technical trailblazers who shape the future of commerce, this is the place for you.

The Strategic Partner Manager - Payments is the primary architect for a portfolio of high-impact commerce and fintech partnerships. You aren't just managing a relationship; you are the "product owner" of the partnership, responsible for navigating complex global organizations to influence roadmaps and execute go-to-market strategies. We are looking for a builder who can turn a partnership agreement into a high-volume engine for merchant adoption and revenue.

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Ownership: Build deep, trust-based relationships with executive decision-makers. You'll be the person they call to solve a hurdle and the person we rely on to advocate for the partner's technical and business needs internally

  • Go-To-Market Architecture: Don't just launch-accelerate. You will collaborate with the Commerce Product and Marketing teams to design and deploy GTM playbooks for new integrations and market expansions that actually move the needle

  • Frictionless Experience: Partner with Product and Client Success to hunt down and eliminate friction in the merchant onboarding journey, ensuring our fintech integrations are world-class from day one

  • Data-Driven Growth: Define the KPIs that matter. You'll track success metrics to drive customer adoption and revenue, using data to pivot strategies when necessary

  • Force Multiplier: Act as a mentor and coach for the wider team, sharing "wins" and strategies to help foster an environment of continuous improvement and collective success

  • Long-Term Vision: Plan and control balanced revenue growth with a multi-year lens, ensuring our partnerships scale sustainably as the commerce landscape evolves

Who Are You:

  • Partnership's Navigator: You have 5+ years in account or partner management in SaaS. Working previously with large enterprise organizations and can navigate organization complexities

  • Proven Track Record: A history of hitting revenue quotas in mid-market or enterprise environments

  • Mindset: you have a "builder mindset." You don't just follow a process; you improve it

  • High-Stakes Communicator: You are poised and energetic under pressure, capable of commanding a room of executive stakeholders or collaborating deep in the weeds with a product team

  • Scrappy & Action-Oriented: You thrive with minimal direction. If you see a gap in a partner's integration or a missed market opportunity, you seize it and build a plan to fix it

  • Cross-Functional Influence: Experience working directly with Product/Engineering to shape technical roadmaps

  • AI-Augmented: You are already using tools like Claude or ChatGPT to draft content, synthesize partner data, and sharpen your daily productivity

Preferred:

  • Payments Enthusiast: You are genuinely curious and willing to learn about payment economics. You want to understand the "why" behind processor fees and how different fintech stacks can give our merchants a competitive edge

  • Travel: Ability to travel (domestic/international) up to 15% of the time to "be in the room" when it matters most

  • Location: Based in Austin, TX (HQ) is preferred; however, we are open to remote candidates based in North America
