What are Strategic Partner Directors?

Strategic Partner Directors are senior professionals responsible for building and managing high-value partnerships between their organization and external companies or entities. They identify potential partners, negotiate agreements, and foster long-term relationships that align with business goals. Their role often involves overseeing joint initiatives, ensuring both parties achieve mutual benefits, and driving growth through collaboration. Strategic Partner Directors also analyze market trends and partnership opportunities to support the company’s strategic objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Strategic Partner Director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Strategic Partner Director, you need expertise in business development, partnership management, and strategic planning, often backed by a bachelor's or master's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms, contract management systems, and analytics tools is typically required. Exceptional negotiation, relationship-building, and leadership skills help foster long-term, high-value partnerships. These skills and qualities are essential for driving growth, maximizing value from alliances, and ensuring organizational objectives are met.

What is the difference between Strategic Partner Director vs Business Development Manager?

The Strategic Partner Director focuses on building long-term strategic alliances and high-level partnerships, often involving cross-departmental coordination. While both roles require strong communication skills and industry knowledge, the Director role emphasizes strategic planning and relationship management, whereas the Manager role is more sales execution-oriented.

How does a Strategic Partner Director typically collaborate with internal teams to achieve partnership objectives?

A Strategic Partner Director works closely with cross-functional teams such as sales, marketing, product development, and legal to ensure successful partnership execution. They often facilitate regular meetings to align goals, address potential challenges, and share updates on partnership progress. Establishing clear communication channels and fostering a collaborative environment are essential, as the director must balance partner interests with internal priorities. This role also involves coordinating joint initiatives and resolving conflicts to maximize mutual value.

Job description

Why Socure?
Socure is building the identity trust infrastructure for the digital economy - verifying 100% of good identities in real time and stopping fraud before it starts. The mission is big, the problems are complex, and the impact is felt by businesses, governments, and millions of people every day.
We hire people who want that level of responsibility. People who move fast, think critically, act like owners, and care deeply about solving customer problems with precision. If you want predictability or narrow scope, this won't be your place. If you want to help build the future of identity with a team that holds a high bar for itself - keep reading.
Socure is evolving our partner ecosystem toward a sales-driven channel model. As a Partner Alliance Director, you will function as a quota-carrying channel sales executive, responsible for driving revenue, expanding our partner base, and executing go-to-market strategies through and with our partners.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own a Revenue Quota: Deliver annual and quarterly revenue targets through partner-sourced and partner-influenced deals.
  • Full-Cycle Partner Sales: Manage pipeline generation, deal progression, and closing activities through assigned partners and new partner prospects.
Partner Portfolio Management: Own a defined book of business of active partners; drive performance, forecast accuracy, and YoY revenue growth.
  • Partner Recruitment: Identify, recruit, and activate new partners to expand Socure's reach into target markets and verticals.
  • Joint GTM Execution: Build and execute joint account plans, campaigns, and co-sell motions with partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Pipeline and Forecast Discipline: Maintain accurate CRM hygiene; report weekly on partner pipeline, forecast, and attainment.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with Leadership, Marketing, Product, and Operations to accelerate partner-driven opportunities.
  • Partner Enablement: Deliver enablement sessions, ensure partner readiness, and equip them with the tools to position Socure effectively.
  • Co-Marketing: Develop and launch demand generation initiatives with measurable pipeline results.
  • Strategic Feedback: Serve as the voice of the partner to influence product strategy, GTM design, and enablement materials.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 7+ years in channel sales, alliances, or partner account management, ideally in fintech, SaaS, or identity/fraud solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in carrying and exceeding revenue quotas through partner ecosystems.
  • Experience in recruiting, enabling, and managing high-performing partners.
  • Deep understanding of co-selling motions, deal registration, and partner pipeline management.
  • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills across executive and sales levels.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and partner management tools (PRM, attribution, co-sell tracking).
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience with API-driven SaaS products, identity verification, or fraud prevention.
  • Established network across fintech, banking, or digital commerce ecosystems.
  • History of quota overachievement in a partner or channel-driven sales role.
  • Familiarity with identity verification, fraud prevention, or compliance-related solutions.
