Job description

Planet Technologies, the Nation's leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as a Modern Work Strategic Manager In this role, you will be supporting impactful projects that benefit our country.
This role serves as a senior presales architect responsible for driving revenue growth and solution innovation across the Modern Work portfolio partnering closely with the sales organization, the Director of Cloud Services, and the Modern Work Managing Architect to design, position, and evolve service offerings that address complex customer challenges.
Responsibilities
  • As a Modern Work subject matter expert, this position plays a critical role in bridging sales, delivery, and the Center of Excellence to ensure solutions provided to our customers are technically sound, financially viable, and operationally repeatable.
  • Lead solution architecture efforts during the sales cycle, translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and compliant Microsoft-based solutions.
  • Responsible for contributing to the definition, packaging, and standardization of Modern Work service offerings, ensuring alignment with delivery capabilities and market demand.
  • Develop packaged offerings (e.g., Rapid Deploy Solutions, assessments, roadmap engagements) that support scalable growth.
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure smooth transition from pre-sales to execution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across solution design, delivery methodology, and operational excellences
  • Collaborate with sales, delivery, PMO, and COE teams in a matrixed environment.

Presales Leadership
  • Own Modern Work presale's function, including solution strategy, deal shaping, and client engagement; partner with Sales teams to drive increases in pipeline and win rates on proposals.
  • Serve as executive-level technical advisor supporting client engagements, discovery sessions, and solution positioning.
  • Lead technical solutioning during the presale lifecycle, including whiteboarding, architecture design, and client presentations.
  • Translate customer business requirements into clearly defined technical solutions and service offerings.
  • Develop proposals, statements of work (SOWs), and pricing strategies in collaboration with delivery and finance teams.

Solution Architecture & Design
  • Design Modern Work solutions leveraging Microsoft technologies, ensuring alignment with customer collaboration, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop high-level and detailed architecture artifacts, including reference architecture, diagrams, and design documentation including the identification of integration points across Microsoft 365, Azure, security, and compliance services.
  • Provide guidance on technical tradeoffs, risks, and implementation considerations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during deal shaping, risk identification, and solution validation.
  • Align service definitions with delivery capabilities, resource models, and financial targets.
  • Support development of sales collateral, playbooks, and solution accelerators.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Microsoft cloud technologies, with a focus on Modern Work solutions (Microsoft 365).
  • 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, presales engineering, or consulting roles.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting sales cycles, developing solutions, and contributing to service offering development.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management, including Entra ID (Azure AD), SSO, and conditional access.
  • Previous experience identifying integration points across Microsoft 365, Azure, security, and compliance services.
  • Provide guidance on technical tradeoffs, risks, and implementation considerations.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, leadership and peers
  • Experience working with SLG and Defense Industrial Base clients is preferred

Professional Licenses/Certifications:
  • Active Microsoft certifications associated with the core and related technologies; and project management-related certification or equivalent experience

Salaries for Modern Work Strategists at Planet Technologies range from $120,000 and $210,000. Several factors will impact final pay offered to a successful candidate including but not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, clearance level, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, etc.
