 Territory: Seattle/Puget Sound, WA
 Remote / Field-Based Position
 Oregon Metal Services / Seaport Steel

 Salary Range: $82,000 - $140,000 annually
 Typical Hiring Range: $82,000 - $100,000 annually

Oregon Metal Services and Seaport Steel are seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative to grow existing accounts and develop new business throughout the Seattle/Puget Sound market. This role is ideal for a motivated sales professional with flat rolled steel experience who enjoys building customer relationships and helping customers find the right processing and material solutions. 

What You'll Do

  • Grow existing accounts and develop new business opportunities
  • Build strong customer relationships through regular customer visits and prospecting activities
  • Serve as a trusted resource for flat rolled steel products and processing capabilities
  • Quote pricing, lead times, and processing requirements
  • Partner with operations, quality, and inside sales teams to deliver exceptional service
  • Resolve customer concerns related to quality, delivery, and product specifications
  • Track sales opportunities and customer activity in CRM systems
  • Monitor market trends and competitive activity within the steel industry

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of outside sales experience in the flat rolled steel, steel processing, metals distribution, or related industrial market
  • Knowledge of steel products, processing capabilities, and manufacturing applications
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage a sales territory, and achieve sales objectives
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Existing customer relationships within the flat rolled steel or metals industry
  • Knowledge of coil leveling, slitting, laser processing, forming, or other value-added steel processing services
  • Experience with ERP, order management, or inventory management systems

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (2-4 years in sales with steel experience preferred).
  • Communication: Ability to read and interpret business materials, write reports, and present information to managers, customers, and teams.
  • Math Skills: Proficient in calculating gross profits, sales margins and percentages; basic algebra and geometry.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled in handling practical challenges and interpreting written, oral, and diagram instructions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Eniteo a plus, and capable of leveraging digital tools and online platforms for research and market analysis.

Work Environment: Field-based role requiring driving approximately 75% of the time.
