Job description

LHH is assisting a client with their need for a Senior Collections Specialist in Charlotte, NC. This is a direct hire position offering competitive compensation, benefits and a hybrid work schedule. Please read on for more details!
Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts and lead collection efforts on past-due balances.
  • Review aging reports, monitor delinquent accounts, and prioritize collection activity based on risk and exposure.
  • Contact customers regarding overdue invoices, payment discrepancies, and account status updates.
  • Investigate and resolve billing disputes, short payments, unapplied cash, and other account issues in partnership with internal teams.
  • Evaluate customer creditworthiness and support decisions related to credit limits, order holds, and account reviews.
  • Negotiate payment plans and recommend appropriate next steps for unresolved balances.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of collection activity, customer communication, and account status.
  • Prepare regular reporting on collections performance, aging trends, and high-risk accounts.
  • Support month-end activities related to accounts receivable and account reconciliation.
  • Provide guidance on best practices and assist with process improvements to strengthen collections performance.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or a related function.
  • Strong understanding of credit and collections practices, aging analysis, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience assessing account risk and working with customers to secure timely payment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to analyze account activity, identify trends, and recommend solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working in ERP or accounting systems.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
Pay Details: $60,000.00 to $68,000.00 per year
