About the Role:
The Senior Desktop Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of desktop computing environments across the organization. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining desktop infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network configurations, to support business operations. The role requires proactive identification and resolution of complex technical issues, minimizing downtime and enhancing user productivity. The Senior Desktop Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to deploy new technologies and improve existing systems, aligning IT solutions with organizational goals. Ultimately, this role drives continuous improvement in desktop services, ensuring a seamless and secure end-user experience throughout the enterprise.
The Senior Desktop Engineer develops develops, designs and engineers solutions for desktop software, hardware and mobile devices. This individual researches evaluates, tests and implements enterprise-wide desktop solutions. The Senior Desktop Engineer designs and implements complex automated software delivery solutions and computer imaging. This role is responsible for documenting solutions to problems and developing end-user guidelines and will provide training for hardware and software solutions they support. Additionally, the individual will develop, document, modify and train global IT personnel on enterprise computing process' and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Desktop System Design and Build - 45%

  • Designs, configures and implements complex desktop hardware and software solutions.
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends client software and hardware solutions.
  • Works with vendor support on evaluation and implementation of new technology.
  • Develop and implement complex technologies including but not limited to, imaging services, endpoint protection, backup solutions and process automation.
  • Provide training for hardware and software solutions they support.
  • Develop, document, modify and train global IT personnel on enterprise computing processes and standard operating procedures.
Cybersecurity administration/implementation - 10%
  • Designs, configures and implements complex PC cybersecurity solutions
  • Administration and implementation of PC Endpoint Detection/Response (EDR) solutions and vulnerability assessment solutions.
  • Remediation of workstation and email cybersecurity incidents
End User Administration - 20%
  • Create, maintain and support network accounts, computer accounts, email accounts, and group memberships
  • Create, maintain and support network printers, file access, group mailboxes, network and desktop security
  • Create, maintain and support Active Directory user, computer and group objects within multi-domain environment.
  • Create and maintain Exchange mailboxes, Distribution list and public folders.
Project Management - 15%
  • Will serve as the project lead on technical projects based on business needs.
  • Coordinates project implementation and manages deployment timelines.
  • Develops and submits budget proposals and funding requests.
End User Support - 10%
  • Provides technical support to the Service Desk IT Specialists and contractors.
  • Works with vendors and IT Department to resolve application and hardware issues.
  • Provides computer support for facility and remote users globally.
  • Monitors and responds to ticketing system assignments via phone and in person.
  • Deploys desktop and laptop hardware.
  • Train Service Desk IT Specialists, Desktop Engineers and contractors on standard configurations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required; 2-year degree in Information Technology or equivalent vocational field is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in desktop engineering or a similar technical support role.
    • System support for client hardware platforms, Dell, HP, Lenovo
    • System and application support for Microsoft client platforms required (Office365, in Tune)
    • Visual Basic and Batch scripting required (Power Shell preferred)
  • Experience in application/system technologies and Connectwise management platform (or similar), Antivirus/Endpoint detection/response (Crowdstrike preferred)
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise security standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or CompTIA A+.
  • Previous experience working in a large-scale global enterprise IT environment.
