Job Description

The Semiconductor Manufacturing Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and optimizes wafer fabrication equipment in a cleanroom environment, with a focus on diffusion, LPCVD, PVD, spin, and lithography systems across 200mm and 300mm platforms. This role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnoses issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and signal path analysis, and completes board-level repairs with standard electrical test equipment. The technician supports complex subsystems such as vacuum, gas delivery, RF/DC power, and temperature control while strictly following contamination control protocols. This position plays a key role in failure analysis, root cause identification, and collaboration with engineering and production teams to improve tool uptime and process stability, requiring strong hands-on experience with legacy wafer fab equipment and the ability to independently troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize wafer fabrication equipment, including diffusion, LPCVD, PVD, spin, and lithography tools on 200mm and 300mm platforms.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on semiconductor manufacturing equipment to ensure high tool availability and stable production.
• Diagnose equipment issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, board layouts, and signal path analysis to identify root causes of failures.
• Carry out board-level repairs and component replacements using standard electrical test equipment and established procedures.
• Support and maintain complex subsystems such as vacuum systems, gas delivery systems, RF/DC power supplies, and temperature control units.
• Conduct failure analysis and document findings to drive effective root cause identification and long-term corrective actions.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to improve tool uptime, process stability, and overall manufacturing reliability.
• Work within a cleanroom environment while strictly adhering to contamination control protocols, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
• Interpret and apply wiring diagrams, schematics, and circuit information to troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues on tools.
• Monitor equipment performance, escalate recurring issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices and procedures.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment and wafer fabrication maintenance.
• Extensive experience with LPCVD and PVD systems on 200mm and 300mm wafer platforms.
• Practical experience with sputtering, diffusion, spin, and lithography equipment in a wafer fab environment.
• Proven cleanroom experience and ability to work in a controlled contamination environment.
• Strong semiconductor equipment troubleshooting skills, including both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret board layouts, wiring diagrams, and schematics for diagnostic and repair activities.
• Proficiency in testing and analyzing signal paths to identify faults at the board and component level.
• Experience performing board-level repairs using standard electrical test equipment.
• Knowledge of vacuum deposition and physical vapor deposition processes and related equipment.
• Experience supporting vacuum, gas delivery, RF/DC power, and temperature control subsystems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with legacy wafer fab equipment and the ability to maintain and optimize older toolsets.
• Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and contamination control practices.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams to resolve complex equipment issues.
• Strong analytical mindset for failure analysis and root cause identification.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a stable weekday work pattern. Work takes place in a semiconductor cleanroom environment, where strict contamination control and safety protocols are followed at all times. The technician works with advanced wafer fabrication tools and supporting subsystems, using standard electrical test equipment and technical documentation to perform maintenance and troubleshooting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
