Paloma Scratch Kitchen is the on-site culinary destination at The Wayback - a fun, flavor-forward restaurant that brings the same vibrant, eclectic energy as the hotel itself. As a Bartender, you are both craftsperson and host - mixing and serving exceptional drinks, guiding guests through our offerings, and creating a bar experience that is as fun and memorable as The Wayback itself. This is a role for someone with deep beverage knowledge, genuine hospitality instincts, and the energy and composure to run a high-spirited bar with professionalism and confidence.
What You'll Do
Guest Experience & Service
- Deliver warm, attentive bar service that reflects Paloma Scratch Kitchen's standards and The Wayback's one-of-a-kind personality
- Anticipate guest needs and show genuine interest in enriching their experience
- Guide guests through cocktail and beverage selections, including food pairings
- Upsell food and beverage offerings knowledgeably and naturally
- Handle guest service issues with professionalism, including responsible management of intoxicated guests - cutting off service, arranging transportation, or asking guests to leave when necessary
- Respect and maintain the privacy and discretion of all guests
Craft & Product Knowledge
- Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits to AATMOS Hospitality standards and guest satisfaction
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all menu items, drink preparations, and beverage offerings
- Stay current on menu changes, seasonal offerings, and featured selections
- Follow AATMOS Hospitality Cost Per Pour standards to ensure consistent quality and profitability
Operations & Standards
- Stock the bar with sufficient alcohol, garnishes, glassware, and supplies at all times
- Verify guest identification to confirm legal drinking age
- Process guest checks and closing paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
- Use hotel software systems in accordance with AATMOS Hospitality Standard Operating Procedures
- Conduct beverage and food inventory per AATMOS Hospitality standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully sanitized bar, including countertops, glassware, utensils, and equipment throughout and at the end of each shift
- Break down and prepare the bar for the next shift, ensuring all workspaces and equipment are clean and ready
Requirements
What We're Looking For
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 1 year of bartending experience required
- Knowledge of cocktail preparation, beer, wine, and spirits required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Skills & Abilities
- Warm, approachable demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional when handling difficult or unruly guests
- Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and complete orders quickly and accurately
Physical & Schedule Requirements
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs throughout each shift
- TABC server permit from a TABC certified program required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment
