Job description

Position Summary

The Used Equipment Operations Manager is a management level position responsible for managing the Earthmoving Division Used Equipment Sales Center in Montgomery, Alabama. The Operations Manager must be able to perform independently with little supervision. Candidates must embrace new technologies and be comfortable using new software and hardware products. The Used Equipment Operations Manager will demonstrate initiative, resilience, sense of urgency, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. 

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Determine trade-in values and repairs required to prepare for sale
  • Provide retail prices on trade-ins and rental fleet machines
  • Take phone calls from salesmen and outside customers
  • Assist walk in customers
  • Attend equipment auctions
  • Source and purchase machines for used equipment inventory
  • Source and purchase machines for Sales Representatives to market to customers
  • Develop relationships with other CAT dealers
  • Work with Service Department on rental fleet repairs as needed
  • Help with decisions on when to add machines to rental fleet
  • Inspect machines with and for Sales Representatives
  • Manage the Thompson Tractor inventory within the www.CatUsed.com system
  • Manage used inventory
  • Analyze markets trends on used equipment
  • Select and supervise personnel as required 
  • Manage Rental Store Rollouts

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 4-5 years previous business experience. 
  • Heavy equipment sales experience is considered a plus. 
  • Candidates must possess the ability to quickly acquire the following required skills and competencies:
