The Manager, Operations (Manufacturing & Production) is responsible for the administration and supervision of production and related service departments of a plant or sections thereof, as delegated by the Plant Manager.

This position will serve our Water Heating Division, located in Montgomery, AL. Relocation assistance is available.ย

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field of study with minimum 7 years' experience or a combination of education and/or equivalent and/or transferrable experience in a manufacturing operations environment may be considered.

  • Strong communications skills (speaking, writing, & listening) with the ability to present information to and respond to questions from all levels of the organization.

  • Independent thought, good judgment, problem solving skills, and ability to prioritize multiple projects a must.

  • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen Teams and standard work methodology.

  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in directly supervising employees, developing talent, and managing performance.

  • Proficiency in computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).

  • Self-motivation with little or no supervision.

  • Direct, through subordinate department managers and superintendents, all production and service activities as delegated by the Plant Manager.

  • Act as a consultant to the Plant Manager on all matters pertaining to his/her delegated activities or functions.

  • Assist in the development and execution of general programs, procedures and methodologies to facilitate effective plant operations.ย  Perform the necessary follow-up to assure performance goals and objectives are achieved and/or exceeded.ย 

  • Assist the Plant Manager in establishing an effective organizational structure to assure operational efficiency and proper coordination between production and service departments.

  • Assume immediate and short-term responsibilities of Plant Manager during his/her absence.

  • Coordinate daily production and service department activities to effectively meet customer requirements, maximize performance to KPIs and other demands placed on plant operations.

  • Enforce established operating policies and procedures.

  • Interpret company policies and procedures to subordinates.

  • Assist Plant Manager in maintaining good employee-management relations, development and training programs, and safety programs.

  • Coordinate plant activities to effectively support Division product development activities, cost initiatives and engineering projects.

  • Lead and participate in the budgeting process regarding all assigned departments.

  • Administer the Performance Appraisal process for all subordinate salaried exempt and non-exempt employees.

  • Provide a safe work environment that is free from recognized hazards that cause or are likely to cause physical harm to employees, take corrective actions to eliminate recognized hazards, and hold employees accountable for actions.

  • Represent company at outside meetings and activities as required.

  • Keep Plant Manager informed of the status and progress of special projects and general plant operating conditions.

  • Responsible for the administration and supervision of the day-to-day plant shipping, production control and material control activities within the specified productivity, cost and quality standards.
