Job description

FlexSchool is a unique, accredited private school network designed for gifted, twice-exceptional, and non-traditional learners. Our small classes, flexible, strengths-first support for diverse learning profiles, and deeply supportive community empower creative, curious, and complex students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
FlexSchool is seeking a hands-on, collaborative Technology & Systems Administrator to oversee the day-to-day operation, administration, and support of the school's technology systems. Reporting directly to the school's leadership team, this position serves as FlexSchool's primary technology resource and works across campuses and departments to ensure that technology is reliable, secure, accessible, and effectively supports teaching, learning, and school operations.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced technology professional who enjoys working in a small-school environment where no two days are exactly alike. The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with excellent communication, customer service, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
This position is mostly remote with occasional visits to campuses in Berkeley Heights, NJ and Bronxville, NY.

What You'll Do:
Technology Operations & Systems Administration
Serve as the primary administrator and operational lead for FlexSchool's technology systems, including but not limited to Google Workspace, Veracross, and Zoom. For all systems, manage account creation, access, changes, and deactivation across all systems for faculty, staff, and students. Monitor the performance and reliability of core technology systems and address issues as they arise. Stay current with system updates, vendor changes, and emerging technologies relevant to the school.
Technology Planning & Leadership Support
Responsibilities include serving as the primary technology resource to the leadership team, identifying technology needs, risks, and opportunities for improvement; researching and evaluating technology solutions, and providing recommendations based on functionality, security, cost, and school needs. This position will assist with short-term and long-term technology planning, including hardware replacement, system upgrades, and technology improvements, including the evaluation of vendor quotes and monitoring vendor performance.
Technical Support & Infrastructure
The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of technology infrastructure, networks, devices, and related equipment, including hardware inventory and replacement needs, and provide responsive, day-to-day technical support to faculty, staff, students.
Other Responsibilities
  • Provide training to faculty, staff, students, and families.
  • Implement and maintain industry-standard cybersecurity protocols across all systems
  • Maintain documentation of technology systems, configurations, services, procedures, and user resources.
  • Communicate system changes, outages, known issues, and required user actions clearly and promptly.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in IT support, systems administration, network administration, or a related technology role.
  • Experience administering Google Workspace for Education
  • Experience working with enterprise or school information systems, Veracross preferred.
  • Strong customer-service and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a K-12 or independent school environment.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in educational environments.
