SUMMARY
The Field Communications Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining critical communications infrastructure across the Companyโ€™s oil and gas operations. This position installs, troubleshoots, maintains, and upgrades field communications equipment supporting operational technology (OT), SCADA, and business-critical network connectivity.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically inclined, and comfortable working independently at remote field locations. This position requires travel throughout Texas and other operating areas as business needs require.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • The Field Communications Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining critical communications infrastructure across the Companyโ€™s oil and gas operations. This position installs, troubleshoots, maintains, and upgrades field communications equipment supporting operational technology (OT), SCADA, and business-critical network connectivity. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically inclined, and comfortable working independently at remote field locations. This position requires travel throughout Texas and other operating areas as business needs require.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel based on business and operational needs.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a Company vehicle.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
  • Previous experience with wireless communication systems, industrial networking, telecommunications, or SCADA environments.
  • Familiarity with INET radios, TransNET radios, Ubiquiti products, Peplink routers, and Starlink systems.
  • Knowledge of IP networking, routing, and wireless communications.
  • Previous oil and gas or midstream industry experience.
  • Experience supporting remote communications infrastructure.
Travel Requirements
This position requires travel to remote field locations. Travel requirements may vary significantly throughout the year, including periods of extensive travel followed by periods of minimal travel. Candidates must be flexible and willing to travel as needed to support operational requirements.Physical Requirements
Environmental Conditions:
  • Working outdoors most of the time in various weather conditions and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Working indoors occasionally at a workstation using a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Exposure to natural gas, chemicals, heavy equipment, and sharp and hazardous tools in plant areas.
