What You'll Do
As Communications Manager, you will lead VoteUSA's communications operations, manage a small team, and oversee nationwide outreach campaigns.
  • Team Leadership - Manage VoteUSA's Communications Team and coordinate with WeVote leadership.
  • Email Campaign Oversight - Oversee regular email campaigns to candidates, election officials, and voters (candidate outreach, election official verification, voter education/GOTV, volunteer communications).
  • Communications Calendar - Develop a communications calendar and metrics to assess campaign effectiveness (engagement, response rates, etc.).
  • Workflow Improvement - Build communication processes, improve workflows, and document best practices for consistency and efficiency.
  • Agile Team Management - Run weekly agile meetings, mentor volunteers, and onboard new team members.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration - Work with Political Data and Business Development teams to ensure outreach is based on accurate election information.
  • Task Assignment - Match volunteers with tasks suited to their skill levels; review work products and propose efficiency improvements.
  • OKR Management - Support and track team OKRs, train volunteers unfamiliar with OKRs, follow up on deadlines, adjust schedules, and communicate changes.
  • Reporting - Provide brief reports in meetings, via email, and in team newsletters on project status.
  • Documentation - Keep communication documentation accurate and current.
Who You Are: Must-Haves
  • Weekly Availability - Able to volunteer at least 3-4 hours per week during WeVote's core hours (M-F, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. PT).
  • Commitment to Democracy - You want to work with an established, successful team and are committed to strengthening American democracy.
  • Personal Excellence - You strive for high-quality work and continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration - Willingness to work with and support other volunteers.
  • U.S. Location - Must be located in the U.S. with 1-2 hours per week overlapping with Pacific Time.

  • Additional Volunteering - If you have more than 5 hours per week, opportunities exist to contribute more broadly within WeVote.
  • Communications Background - Experience in communications, PR, nonprofit outreach, marketing, journalism, or strong written communication skills.
