Job description

Job Description
Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)
Confidential Portfolio Company • Remote-friendly
About Us
Confidential Portfolio Company -- builds the payment rails for the businesses the rest of the financial system overlooks - crypto-native companies and emerging-market financial institutions that move serious cross-border and stablecoin volume but can't get served by mainstream banks. We process billions of dollars a year for a fast-growing client base, and we're building the in-house infrastructure - compliance, orchestration, and direct access - to turn that into a category-defining payments business. We're a small, senior team where every person's work is visible and consequential. Here, compliance isn't a cost center; it's the engine that unlocks our growth.
Responsibilities
  • Build in-house compliance and onboarding function from the ground up - the capability that directly unlocks the company's growth.
  • Own the BSA/AML, OFAC sanctions, and KYC/KYB programs for a high-volume cross-border and stablecoin payments business.
  • Make the onboarding and risk decisions that turn a signed pipeline into live revenue - owning the judgment that is, quite literally, the product.
  • Define and confirm the company's regulatory perimeter - FinCEN/MSB registration, money-transmission analysis, and state requirements - in partnership with outside counsel.
  • Run transaction monitoring, SAR/CTR workflows, and the compliance reporting and relationships with our banking and licensed-rail partners.
  • Be the company's senior compliance voice to the board, partners, and regulators.
Requirements
  • 8+ years in financial-services compliance, including senior ownership of a BSA/AML program
  • Deep expertise in BSA/AML, OFAC sanctions, and KYC/KYB
  • Experience standing up or running compliance at a money services business (MSB) or payments company
  • CAMS (or equivalent) and the ability to serve as named BSA/AML Officer
  • Comfortable operating hands-on in a small, fast-moving company
Bonus Points
  • Hands-on crypto, digital-asset, and stablecoin compliance experience, including the post-GENIUS Act regulatory landscape
  • Background in cross-border payments, correspondent banking, and Latin America / emerging-markets remittances
  • Working knowledge of money transmitter licensing (MTLs), state-by-state requirements, and the FinCEN MSB framework
  • Familiarity with the Travel Rule and blockchain analytics tools (Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM Labs)
  • Experience with transaction monitoring systems, KYB/onboarding tooling, and SAR/CTR processes
  • Prior role as a Chief Compliance Officer, BSA Officer, or Head of Compliance at a fintech, payments, or digital-asset firm
Perks
  • Equity participation in a public company with real upside
  • Remote-first
  • A genuine founding role: you build the function, own it end to end, and report directly to senior leadership and the board
  • The rare chance to own compliance at the frontier of crypto, stablecoins, and cross-border payments
