What is a Remote Business Development role at a startup?

A Remote Business Development role at a startup involves identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with potential clients or partners, and helping to drive growth—all while working from a location outside the company's main office. Professionals in this position focus on sales outreach, market research, and strategic planning to expand the startup’s presence and revenue. Because it's remote, strong communication and self-motivation skills are essential. The dynamic nature of startups means the role can be broad, often requiring adaptability and a willingness to take on varied tasks.

To thrive as a Remote Business Development professional in a startup, you need strong sales acumen, strategic thinking, and a background in business or marketing, often backed by relevant experience or a degree. Familiarity with CRM platforms (like Salesforce or HubSpot), lead generation tools, and virtual communication systems is typically required. Exceptional self-motivation, relationship-building, and communication skills make someone stand out in this remote, fast-paced environment. These skills are crucial for driving growth, forging partnerships, and adapting quickly to the evolving needs of a startup.

How does a Remote Business Development professional at a startup typically collaborate with other teams?

As a Remote Business Development professional in a startup environment, you will frequently collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, product, and customer success. Regular virtual meetings, shared project management tools, and open communication channels are essential to align strategies, share market feedback, and refine outreach efforts. Building strong relationships and staying proactive in communication are key, as remote setups require extra effort to ensure everyone is on the same page and goals are met efficiently.

Job description

Senior Business Development Recruiter (AEC) – | Fully Remote | Build Your Territory | $100–300K+/yr

Join Luxus Group — Where Top Producers Build Real Income, Autonomy, and Ownership

Are you a high-performing recruiter or business development professional who knows how to win clients—but wants more upside, more control, and a better platform to grow?

At Luxus Group, we are not looking for order-takers.

We are building a team of business development-first recruiters—individuals who can open doors, create opportunities, and then execute the full recruiting lifecycle to monetize those relationships.

This is not a traditional recruiting role.
This is an opportunity to build and run your own book of business—with the infrastructure, support, and compensation model to scale it.

The Opportunity

We are hiring Senior Business Development Recruiters with 3–25 years of experience in direct hire recruiting and/or staffing sales, specifically within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.

This role is sales-first, execution-second.

You will:

  • Develop your own territory and niche within AEC

  • Prospect, pitch, and win new client relationships

  • Generate job orders through direct business development

  • Run full-cycle recruiting (intake → sourcing → placement → close)

  • Build a repeatable, scalable desk with long-term client partnerships

What Makes Luxus Group Different

Most firms separate sales and recruiting. We empower you to own both—and get paid accordingly.

You Bring the Drive. We Provide the Platform.

  • Proven business model built for business development-focused recruiters

  • Warm leads and inbound opportunities to supplement outbound efforts

  • Dedicated recruiting coordinators for sourcing + outreach execution

  • CRM, automation, and tech stack designed to accelerate production

Weekly Training, Mentorship & Deal Strategy

  • Live weekly training focused on BD, recruiting strategy, and deal flow

  • Direct access to leadership for client strategy and closing support

  • Real-time collaboration on high-value searches and opportunities

Built for Growth, Not Just Production

  • Opportunity to build a team under you as your book expands

  • Path into player/coach, team lead, or territory leader roles

  • Long-term wealth creation through client ownership and repeat business

What You’ll Be Doing

Business Development (Primary Focus)

  • Identify, prospect, and engage AEC firms within your territory

  • Conduct outbound outreach (calls, email, LinkedIn, referrals)

  • Pitch Luxus Group’s services and secure new client partnerships

  • Generate and qualify job orders

  • Build long-term, repeatable client relationships

Full-Cycle Recruiting (Execution)

  • Run intake calls and define hiring strategies with clients

  • Source, qualify, and present top AEC talent

  • Manage interview processes and candidate pipelines

  • Close offers and drive successful placements

  • Ensure high-quality client and candidate experience

Account Management & Growth

  • Own the client relationship from first contact through placement

  • Provide consultative hiring guidance and market insight

  • Expand accounts through upsells, referrals, and repeat business

  • Build a defensible, scalable book of business

Performance Expectations (KPIs)

This is a production-driven, sales-led role. KPIs are designed to support consistent pipeline generation and revenue growth.

Daily KPIs

  • 50–100 outbound business development touches (calls, emails, LinkedIn)

  • 10–25 live conversations with prospects, clients, or candidates

  • 2–5 new client conversations or job intake discussions

  • 2–5 candidate submittals to active job orders

  • CRM activity and pipeline updates maintained daily

Weekly KPIs

  • 250–500 total outbound BD + recruiting activities

  • 8–15 client meetings (BD calls, discovery calls, intake calls)

  • 3–7 new job orders generated

  • 10–25 qualified candidate submittals

  • 5–10 candidate interviews scheduled with clients

  • 1–3 offers extended or in process

Monthly KPIs

  • 10–20+ job orders generated

  • 40–80+ candidate submittals

  • 20–40 client interviews facilitated

  • 3–6+ placements (depending on deal size and cycle time)

  • Pipeline health:

    • Maintain 3x–5x pipeline coverage relative to income goals

What Top Performers Do Differently

  • Prioritize business development every single day

  • Build niche dominance within a specific AEC vertical or geography

  • Convert clients into repeat, exclusive partnerships

  • Balance sales activity with efficient recruiting execution

  • Treat their desk like a business—not a job

Our Services (What You’ll Sell)

  • Direct Hire / Permanent Placement

  • Executive Search

  • Confidential Searches

  • Market Mapping & Talent Intelligence

  • Passive Candidate Outreach Campaigns

  • Pipeline Development for critical roles
