Regulatory Coordinator
Department: Regulatory Affairs / Compliance
Position Overview
This role will partner closely with leadership, clinical teams, and operational stakeholders to ensure adherence to state, federal, and accreditation standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare regulatory compliance, accreditation preparation, survey readiness, and quality improvement, with extensive knowledge of CMS, CDPH, The Joint Commission (TJC), and Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support ongoing readiness efforts for accreditation surveys, regulatory inspections, and licensure reviews.
  • Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements from CMS, CDPH, TJC, IMQ, and other governing agencies.
  • Assess compliance with applicable standards and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Develop corrective action plans and monitor progress toward regulatory compliance goals.
  • Conduct focused and comprehensive regulatory assessments across clinical and operational departments.
  • Evaluate policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Identify compliance gaps and collaborate with leadership to implement sustainable solutions.
  • Support preparation activities before, during, and after accreditation and licensing surveys.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams to support quality improvement initiatives and performance enhancement activities.
  • Develop and maintain readiness tools, audit templates, educational materials, and compliance resources.
  • Analyze regulatory findings, trends, and risk areas to provide actionable recommendations.
  • Assist in creating standardized processes that promote long-term compliance and operational excellence.
  • Provide training, consultation, and ongoing support to leaders and staff regarding regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present reports, compliance updates, and recommendations to leadership teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on accreditation, licensure, and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate regulatory changes and best practices throughout the organization.
  • Act as a liaison between organizational leadership and regulatory surveyors.
  • Support responses to survey findings, deficiency citations, and corrective action requests.
  • Assist with immediate jeopardy, condition-level findings, and compliance remediation efforts.
  • Coordinate documentation requests and facilitate survey-related activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 8 years of recent experience in healthcare regulatory compliance, accreditation, licensure, or quality management.
  • Strong working knowledge of CMS, CDPH, The Joint Commission (TJC), and IMQ standards and requirements.
  • Experience supporting healthcare operations, clinical programs, care coordination, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to conduct compliance assessments, analyze findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience supporting state, federal, or accreditation surveys and inspections.
  • Experience developing policies, procedures, educational materials, and readiness tools.
  • Previous experience serving as a liaison with regulatory agencies and survey teams.
  • Familiarity with compliance tracking systems, reporting tools, and regulatory databases.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and change management skills.
