Job description

PATIENT ACCESS REPRESENTATIVE

  • Day/Eve Shifts
  • Weekends and Holidays Rotations
  • Geneva, NY

Under the direction and supervision of the Patient Registration Manager and in accordance with Hospital and Patient Registration Department policies and procedures: Registers outpatients, Admits, Discharges, and transfers patients to all levels of care within the Finger Lakes Health system. Interviews all patients and processes all pertinent patient information (demographic and financial). Verifies insurance coverage. Determines and facilitates obtaining the proper authorizations and pre-certifications required by insurance carrier guidelines. Is knowledgeable of and adheres to all Finger Lakes Health and Patient Registration department policies and procedures.

EDUCATION:
Minimum:
High School or equivalent.
Preferred:
AAS degree in Medical Assistant/Secretarial Science or experience in business with emphasis on health care or related field.
Medical Terminology.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Previous business office or retail experience.
Preferred:
One-year related hospital, business, or physician office experience.
SKILLS:
Minimum:
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.
Computer literacy.
Preferred:
Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point.
