Details:
  • Part-time, 28 hours a week
  • Friday 8:30aย - 5:30pย in Perry
  • Saturday and Sunday, 6a-4pย in Blackwell
  • Opportunity to pick up additional hours as schedule requires/staff coverage
  • Located in Blackwell with possible coverage needs in Perry and Stillwater

JOB SUMMARY:

Registers inpatients and outpatients and performs the pre-service data requirements efficiently and accurately by entering the required information into the Stillwater Medical Patient System.ย  Uses good customer skills when conversing with patients, both face-to-face and over the phone and presents a professional image of Stillwater Medical.ย  Provides and explains all required documents to the patient and answers their questions.ย  Informs of, and/or collects pre-payments from patients, and provides appropriate payment options, including financing options and applications for financial assistance.Acts as backup to Switchboard Operations and PAS ED Intake Clerk if working in the ED. ย Uses initiative to maintain the registrarโ€™s administrative responsibilities, and to solve registration-related problems.ย ย  Works collaboratively to ensure that all areas of the PAS department have coverage.ย  Supports the resolution of PAS and other department staff problems as they occur.ย  Keeps ancillary departments, and inpatient floor staff, informed of problems, delays, and other situations that could impact the delivery of efficient, competent, and compassionate care.ย  Supports new employee training efforts. Keeps registration team leader, supervisor, manager, and/or PAS director informed of patient complaints and other situations requiring attention.ย  Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstarted excellent interpersonal skills(listening, non-verbal communication, tone, empathy).
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to type 40 wpm
  • Previous experience in a medical environment a plus
  • Completion of assigned training modules of the Healthcare Revenue Cycle within 90 days.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, patients, and families.
  • Able to hear, or adequate hearing with corrections, to converse with others on the phone.
  • Able to stand/walk for extended periods of time throughout the work schedule, with some lifting and bending.
  • Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts,ย to prepare and read documents accurately.
  • Demonstrates adequate stamina to deal with stressful situations and to complete the necessary work schedule.
  • Possess fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to manage office equipment.
