Job description

Job Title: Clinical Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Clinic

REPORTS TO: Clinical Manager

SUMMARY: Provide excellent patient care through clinical duties and administrative tasks while adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare patient, sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, or assist dentist during procedures.
  • Assist with placement and removal of appliances as directed by doctor.
  • Record treatment information in patient records.
  • Assist dentist in management of medical or dental emergencies.
  • Order and monitor supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Take and expose dental diagnostic x-rays; prepare scans for lab.
  • Maintain accurate and current manuals for documentation of equipment function.
  • Assist with training of new team members.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma required
  • Orthodontic Assistant Certificate and 5-10 years’ experience as a chairside assistant.
  • Computer skills preferred: Dolphin, OrthoFi, Microsoft Dynamics CRM

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently/Continually required to sit, stand, or walk.
  • Frequently/Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Frequently/Continually required to talk or hear
  • Occasionally work around fumes or airborne particles
  • Occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception and ability to adjust focus
