Job Description:

Job Title: Medical Records Director

Workplace: Central State Hospital, Milledgeville

Job Summary:

Manages and provides input to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the delivery of health services. Provides input to develop and implement related policies and procedures. Monitors and evaluates healthcare programs. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.

Duties:

Directs subordinate supervisors and staff. Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance and when necessary, discipline HIM staff.

Provide direction and management to the Health Information Management (HIM) Department whose primary charge is to maintain control of complete and accurate medical records throughout the hospital. This position is responsible for compliance with Joint Commission Record of Care standards.

Provides input to develop and implement related policies and procedures.

Sets priorities and implements goals and objectives to meet or resolve identified issues. Participates in the development and administration of the HIM budget.

Preferred Qualifications:

Registered Health Information Administrator or Technician (RHIA or RHIT)

Three (3) years of experience managing a HIM Department.

Experience to include supervision of staff.

Experience with hospital information system and electronic medical records system.
