Raw Material Planner
Mativ is a global leader in specialty materials headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Company offers a wide range of critical components and engineered solutions that connect, protect, and purify our world.
Location: Munising, MI
Description:The Raw Material Planner is a key member of Mativ's Planning team, responsible for managing raw material ordering and ensuring timely delivery to support production needs. This role works cross-functionally with suppliers, procurement, transportation, R&D, and operations, while partnering closely with production planners. The Raw Material Planner also provides backup support for production planning and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact business performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Update the raw material planning spreadsheet daily, using the latest production schedules and inventory data to determine material demand.
  • Track and update railcar locations each day to ensure timely delivery.
  • Enter requisitions to generate purchase orders for all raw materials, following up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate the delivery of latex tanker trucks, adjusting as needed to support schedule changes.
  • Collaborate with the railroad and receiving teams to ensure completion of train switches.
  • Manage inventory strategies to achieve target service levels while minimizing inventory holding costs.
  • Work collaboratively with the planning team to problem-solve, provide backup coverage, support team members, and share ideas.
  • Communicate promptly about any raw material delivery issues or concerns that may impact production.
  • Conduct monthly physical cycle counts of raw material inventory to ensure accuracy within the Oracle system.
  • Perform weekly counts of finishing and expense supplies, and order materials as needed.
  • Support the Research & Development team by procuring materials for trials.
  • Adapt to changing business needs, and understand the levers required to exceed company goals.
  • Partner with other supply chain functions to execute continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor of Business Administration or Supply Chain Management degree preferred.
  • Understanding of inventory management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to view, modify, and analyze reports.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of personal drive.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
