Job description

BOXX Technologies Product Operations department is looking for a Material Planner located in Austin, TX. BOXX offers Benefits (Medical, Dental and Vision plans), 401-K Matching, and Paid Time Off.

Position Summary:

The Material Planner is responsible for forecasting and planning to ensure an uninterrupted supply of raw materials and components to meet production goals and customer demand throughout the product life cycle.

Job Description:

  • Perform monthly and quarterly demand forecasting and inventory planning in a high-mix, low-volume discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Analyze demand signals, forecast trends, and customer backlog to determine material requirements and identify supply risks.
  • Proactively identify material shortages and develop mitigation plans with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers to support customer delivery commitments.
  • Partner with Purchasing and suppliers to monitor delivery performance, resolve supply issues, and ensure material availability in support of production schedules.
  • Coordinate supplier change notifications and ensure appropriate internal review and execution through the change management process.
  • Assess material impact of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and coordinate implementation plans with cross-functional teams.
  • Assist with EOL and E&O transitions.
  • Coordinate Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition of non-conforming materials to minimize production and customer delivery impacts.
  • Review and maintain material planning parameters associated with Bills of Material (BOMs), alternate parts, and engineering changes.
  • Maintain planning master data including lead times, safety stock levels, order policies, and other ERP planning parameters to ensure planning accuracy.
  • Execute and maintain Material Requirements Planning (MRP) activities including demand review, supply planning, order recommendations, and exception management.
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate key planning metrics including backlog, material availability, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, shortages, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Manage daily material planning activities to ensure timely availability of materials supporting production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
  • Review, approve, and coordinate non-production material requests in accordance with business requirements and inventory objectives.

Education:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree.

Required Experience and Skills

  • 2-5 years of experience in materials planning and associated functions.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel (advanced level) and other productivity software.
  • Experienced in MRP/ ERP systems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Embrace can do and continuous improvement mindset.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years of materials planning experience.
  • Prior Experience with planning for computer assembly or electronics manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing.
  • Experience working with Bills of Material (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and product lifecycle management processes.
  • Working knowledge of chat- based AI assistants and scripting with LLMs.
