Job description

Position Title: Buyer/Planner
The Buyer/Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring that production has the necessary materials on time. This position involves managing inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock. The Buyer/Planner will negotiate with suppliers on pricing and terms while addressing any issues related to delays or quality. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and track costs effectively. The Buyer/Planner will also be involved in building relationships with vendors to enhance supply chain efficiency.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 / year DOE
Buyer/Planner Responsibilities:
  • Buy materials to ensure timely production
  • Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess
  • Create and update purchase orders
  • Collaborate with suppliers on pricing, timelines, and order specifics
  • Resolve issues such as delays, shortages, or quality concerns
  • Maintain accurate systems with updated pricing and order information
  • Track costs to help manage spending
  • Identify and evaluate new vendors
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers
  • Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, and pricing
  • Work with suppliers to improve cost and lead times

Buyer/Planner Requirements:
  • 2+ years in purchasing, planning, or supply chain
  • Comfortable negotiating pricing and terms
  • High school diploma
  • Experience with inventory, MRP, or procurement
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.) is preferred
  • Strong Excel skills are preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing or supply chain environments is preferred

  • Health Insurance: Starts the 1st of the month after 30 days, covering medical, dental, and vision, with the company paying 65% of medical and dental costs
  • 401(k): Eligible after 3 months with a company match of 100% up to 3% or 50% up to 6%
  • PTO: Non-exempt employees receive 5 days; exempt employees receive 10 days, available at hire
  • Leave: 5 days of paid bereavement leave and partial pay for the first 4 weeks of parental leave
