POSITION TITLE: Assistant Buyer
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Assistant Buyer will execute day-to-day tasks necessary to assist the Buying team. The Assistant Buyer will also obtain a general understanding of all Buying functions, including interdependencies with Production, Planning and Distribution, participating in departmental meetings and becoming familiar with buying tools, terminology and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support and compile data as needed to aid in developing seasonal strategies and financial targets. Attend pre-season meetings between Buying and Planning. Create assortment sheets. Update with changes, distribute and communicate changes to appropriate business partners on an ongoing basis. Provide input in line edit meetings. Review sales performance and learn to identify sales trends. Attend discussions on evaluating and adjusting future product as well as sales forecast and Open To Buy(OTB) discussions to develop understanding of key financial concepts and components. Develop expert knowledge of customer base by participating in local store visits. Learn to evaluate product execution and point of view. Gather customer and store associate feedback to communicate to management.
Participate in weekly cross-functional meetings to share information on current business issues.
Work effectively as a member of a cross-functional department team between Buying, Planning, I/C and Distribution by focusing on team objectives and communicating clearly.
