Position: Procurement Buyer
Reports to: Director of Purchasing
Department: Purchasing
Location: Holland, MI

The Procurement Buyer is responsible for supporting the procurement activities within a frozen food manufacturing environment. This role purchases ingredients and materials to meet production schedules, forecasting, and inventory needs. It ensures the timely and accurate processing of purchase orders, maintains supplier and ingredient information, and assists in resolving receipt and supply issues. The position works collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including labeling and regulatory departments, to ensure compliance with industry standards, particularly those related to nutritional information and traceability. The Procurement Buyer plays a key role in maintaining efficient supply chain operations and upholding the company's commitment to quality and food safety.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Enter purchase orders into the system
  • Analyze overdue purchase orders and take appropriate action
  • Verify/maintain database of manufacturing locations for ingredients
  • Analyze the rescheduling report for items that need to be moved to meet the demand date
  • Expedite both current orders and those that need to be changed due to production changes
  • Assist with any receipt problems or issues
  • Collect and maintain nutritional information to comply with Nutrition Facts Panel Requirements via Trace Gains Document Tracking software
  • Work closely with Request Foods Labeling and Regulatory Department to evaluate nutritional information received
  • Maintain accurate supplier contact information
  • Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • One year of purchasing experience or related internship is preferred
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software—Word and Excel
  • Outstanding people skills
  • Excellent communication skills
