The Materials Planning Manager position will be responsible for managing the production materials functions that supports production.ย  Will be supervising the material handlers and material planners to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of materials in the OEM factory. The materials planning manager coordinates the receiving, storage, and delivery to line of materials, as well as the material requirement planning. This position also ensures compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Nature and Scope:

This position has a broad cross-functional impact on the entire business for the CLARK Manufacturing Plant and is responsible for the execution of the Production Plan coordination as a company strategy.ย  The position actively participates in the planning and management of decisions affecting inventory investment, master scheduling, production scheduling, material handling, material procurement and customer service.ย  Outside supplier communication and contacts are key elements in representing CLARK.

Materials Planning Manager is responsible for the accuracy and validity of the Material Requirement Planning System.ย  The systems monitoring has a tremendous impact on our component inventory investment.

ย 

Essential Functions:

  • Schedule and coordinate the receiving, storage, and line delivery of materials in a manner that meets production requirements and minimizes cost.
  • Monitor inventory performance to prevent line stopage and minimize excess stock or obsolete waste.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP platforms (like Baan, PRMS) to ensure planning data, Bill of Materials (BOM) integrity, and replenishment strategies are accurate.
  • Direct and control supplier deliveries, forecasts, and material flow to match production rate.
  • Manage inventory investment for ongoing production.
  • Recruit, train, and coach a team of material planners, production materials team and supply chain specialists, setting performance objectives and evaluating metrics to develop a highly engaged materials planning team by training, coaching, and mentoring them.
  • Drive process improvement to reduce line stoppage, part shortages, delays, and errors.
  • Lead safety, quality, and productivity actions to achieve production targets.
  • Optimize material flow and parts storage through continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring that workers have adequate training and knowledge of safety procedures to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Determining the need for additional labor to meet production goals.
  • Recommending changes to equipment or processes to improve efficiency and productivity.

Additional Functions:

  1. Skilled user of computers and software systems as they relate to the Materials functions.

  3. Communicate effectively at all levels of management, supervision.
  4. Support company policies and demonstrate concern for the success of the business.
  5. Show effective concern for the quality of all output and the needs, concerns and priorities of all โ€œcustomersโ€ both internal and external to the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent in Business Management or related field with at least four years experience in materials management in a manufacturing environment
  • OR
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in materials management in a manufacturing environment
  • AND
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP, visual management, shop floor flow, and order management systems
  • Must demonstrate leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior supervisory experience and LEAN manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely.
