Job Overview

The Materials and Planning Manager is responsible for leading all materials planning activities to ensure the timely availability of materials in support of production and customer demand. This role plays a critical part in aligning supply chain execution with operational and business objectives, driving both service excellence and cost performance.

The Materials and Planning Manager will report to the Director of Materials and will partner cross functionally with Production, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure synchronization between demand, supply, and capacity. This role will focus on optimizing inventory levels, improving forecasting accuracy, and mitigating risks related to material availability and supply disruptions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong operational expertise in materials management and a continuous improvement mindset, helping to enhance efficiency, improve material flow, and support overall site performance at the Vega Baja manufacturing facility.

A Day In The Life
  • Leading materials planning and execution to ensure alignment with production schedules, customer demand, and business priorities
  • Driving alignment across Purchasing, Production, Operations, and Sales to ensure synchronization between demand, supply, and capacity
  • Monitoring demand signals, material availability, and capacity constraints, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to protect production continuity
  • Guiding the team in resolving material shortages, expedites, and supply disruptions, ensuring timely and effective response to operational challenges
  • Overseeing inventory strategy and execution, including forecasting, safety stock optimization, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy initiatives
  • Supporting new product introductions, engineering changes, and material transitions, ensuring seamless integration into production
  • Partnering with warehouse and logistics leadership to maintain efficient material flow, storage practices, and inventory control
  • Driving performance through data, tracking and analyzing key metrics such as inventory turns, on-time delivery, shortages, schedule attainment, backlog, and past due orders
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost, improve efficiency, and optimize working capital across the supply chain
  • Providing data-driven insights and recommendations to support operational decisions, resource allocation, and long-term planning
