Job description

Quotation Specialist

Pentagon Technologies is looking for a Quotation Specialist to join our Sales/Quotation team. This is an early career role with potential growth opportunities.  This is a salaried position reporting to the Quotation Manager. This position will be a hybrid role and based in one of the following locations: Hayward, CA; Portland, OR; Mesa, AZ; or Austin, TX.  Occasional travel to company locations for on-site projects and team collaborations is required. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to: 

  • Produces quotations with pricing that adheres to company guidelines 
  • Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying previous quotes, blueprints, specifications, and related documents 
  • Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements 
  • Ensures all cross-functional departments required to provide input in the RFQ process provide timely, accurate inputs for the RFQ response 
  • Works closely with the marketing and sales account managers to strategize on pricing approach 
  • Acts as internal subject matter expert on the bid process, including the process for determining pricing, site selection, capabilities with technology and processes 
  • Maintains a current understanding of bid strategies and market conditions. Follow up on outstanding quotations to secure orders, improve quotation process and measure effectiveness 
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends 
  • Serves as the initial point of contact for prospective clients, providing initial information, answering inquiries, and guiding them through the initial stages of engagement 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science/programming, supply chain, logistics, math, and/or accounting preferred
  • 1-3 years of previous related work experience (Chemist, Chemical Engineer, Pricing Analyst, Sales Analyst, and/or Quotation Specialist highly desired)
  • 1-3 years of experience in semiconductor, solar, chemical or related industries a plus 
  • Able to understand and perform profit margin, value pricing, and Return on Investment (ROI) calculations 
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills 
  • Able to multi-task, have demonstrated organizational, prioritization skills and time management skills to ensure that work related activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team oriented, high demand and fast paced environment 
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and work with highly sensitive data and information 
  • Ability to learn and use enterprise level software systems 
  • Able to prove demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a professional and positive manner 

Additional Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (IF, VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, OFFSET, pivot tables, macros) for data organization and analysis 
  • Proficiency in writing and executing complex SQL queries for data manipulation and analysis 
  • Experience with Jira or other ticketing software 
  • Experience with Microsoft BI, Tableau, or other data visualization software 
  • Experience with Filemaker

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to function well in an office environment. Must also be able to work in a controlled chemical and wastewater environment. Must also be able to perform in a laboratory environment. Persons who are sensitive to chemical environments with such medical conditions as asthma, allergies, or extreme sensitivity to chemicals may not be considered as good candidates for this position.   Must have the ability to travel to the various Pentagon Technologies Facilities within the continental US as required. Must be able to travel to Vendor and Customer facilities within the continental US as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must pass Company required screening tests. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand, reach with hands and arms and perform light office work, which includes computer workstation usage.
