Job Purpose:
The quotations specialist is responsible for preparing project quotes for pricing and estimating special items by gathering information and analyzing material and job costing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and issues quotations to distributors and representatives with accuracy in design and material selection, and to specified requirements. This includes valve selection, costing, and pricing per the applicable sales discount structure.
• Coordinate bid packages for customers, including all pertinent company information, while formatting in accordance with company guidelines to ensure the final document is in a professional and comprehensive format.
• Coordinate marketing material with sales for customer proposal packages.
• Manage documentation and files when proposals are revised, and be available to provide support to the sales organization during any commercial discussions for open bids.
• Work with purchasing and manufacturing on cost and deliveries on buy-out items and component assemblies.
• Work with Engineering, Operations, and Outside Sales on technical data that may be pertinent to quoting the correct product.
• Upon receipt of an order, coordinates with order entry to get the order processed in accordance with the quotation and purchase order. Also, coordinate with purchasing and planning to follow the order through to completion and keep the customer informed of the status.
• Acts as liaison between the sales department and other functional company groups.
• Provides key input for product rationalization and development.
• Works closely with distributors and representatives on sales and quotation needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of valves and valve applications for the proper selection of materials/designs for quote requests.
• Strong business acumen, data analysis, and in-depth understanding of concepts and principles on a global basis.
• Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to effectively communicate with other employees on a variety of topics and work together to accomplish common goals and make the business successful.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities
• Ability to multitask well.
• Strong background in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint Preferred
• Knowledge ERP applications such as QAD
• Ability to read and interpret end-user specs, procedures, and instructions satisfactorily to successfully perform assigned duties accurately and professionally.
• BA/BS in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5-10 years' sales and marketing experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Working Conditions:
• The Quotations specialist reports M-F in the Houston Sales Office on Tanner Road. *This is not a remote position. *
Physical Requirements:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
