Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting purchasing activities of Project Managers including bulk buy-out, materials for fabrication shops, sheet metal commodities, and locating and purchasing uncommon specialties.
  • Develop and maintain tracking database for vendor stock quantities, backorders, returns credits, and rebates.
  • Assist Project Managers to establish, maintain, and issue blanket purchase orders.
  • Assist Project Managers with issuing purchase orders, invoice approvals, commodities monitoring and alerts, material forecasting.
  • Provide support to Estimating team by request bids.
  • Coordinate material delivery arrangements and material returns.
  • Provide pricing support for change orders via bid requests.
  • Place and track field orders.
  • Price and submit requisitions, buy out procurement.
  • Locate, evaluate, and establish local and national vendor relationships – prepare monthly vendor scorecard.
  • Maintain quarterly/yearly sales reports for factory rebates.

Management Responsibility:  

Supervisor – responsible for hiring, performance management and pay administration for subordinates. Supervised positions: Purchasing Assistant.

RequirementsEducation: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.
  • Coursework related to business administration preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of material/equipment purchasing experience in the construction industry.
  • Past Purchasing Agent experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in role assisting with Project Management or field leadership preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement/vendor inspection techniques and requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical construction industry operations practices, processes, and standards.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external customers.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-management skills.
  • Time-management and organizational skills.
  • High level of financial acumen necessary.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to analyze complex reports.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite products required – includes Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Proficiency with MS Access database preferred.

Physical and/or travel demands:  
  • There will be travel up to Johnstown periodically. 
  • This position is done in a typical office setting, mostly sitting at a desk. Frequent use of computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.  Some standing, bending, and lifting light files is required.

Benefits and Compensation:
  • The range for this position has been established at $24.65 to $34.83 and is US Engineering’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
