Both roles require knowledge of purchasing processes, but Freelance Purchasing offers more flexibility, while Procurement Specialists work within structured corporate environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance purchasing specialist?

To thrive as a Freelance Purchasing Specialist, you need strong negotiation skills, an understanding of supply chain management, and relevant experience or education in procurement or business. Familiarity with procurement software, inventory management systems, and sometimes certifications like Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are valuable. Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building abilities help you manage vendors and adapt to changing client needs. These skills ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions, timely delivery of goods, and client satisfaction in a competitive freelance environment.

What is a freelance purchasing professional?

A freelance purchasing professional is an independent contractor who manages the procurement of goods and services for companies on a project or contract basis, instead of being a full-time employee. They are responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating prices, ensuring quality, and handling purchase orders. Freelance purchasing specialists often work with multiple clients, offering flexibility and specialized expertise to businesses that may not require a full-time procurement staff.

What are some common challenges freelance purchasing professionals face when managing multiple clients simultaneously?

Freelance purchasing professionals often juggle multiple clients, each with unique processes, priorities, and timelines. This can make it challenging to stay organized and responsive, especially when dealing with urgent requests or conflicting deadlines. Effective communication, time management, and robust record-keeping are essential to ensure all client needs are met and supplier relationships remain strong. Leveraging digital tools for tracking orders and contracts can help streamline workflows and minimize errors.

Qualifications
• A deep commitment to the Catholic faith and enthusiasm for advancing the mission of FOCUS.
• Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-6+ years of experience producing video content, preferably in film production or agency environment.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Experience working with creative teams, freelancers, and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
