Job description

The Project Executive is accountable for the overall performance of AHV's EPC project portfolio. The Project Executive leads AHV's Project Execution Team to oversee the success of AHV HV Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contracts. This role provides executive level leadership and decision-making authority across all phases of project execution, including commercial performance, risk management, client relationships, safety, quality, and schedule.
The Project Executive serves as the senior escalation point for complex execution, contractor and commercial matters, and plays a critical role in developing project management talent and standardizing delivery excellence across the organization.
This role will be responsible for concurrent EPC Contracts totaling ~$50-$75 million in annual aggregate contract value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
  • Hire, supervise and mentor Project Managers. Promote a culture of ownership, collaboration, and disciplined execution across project teams.
  • Direct leadership of 6 to 8 Project Managers including indirect oversight of Project Engineers, Site Construction Managers, and support admin staff.
  • Manage and lead the final stages of development to finalize EPC contracts.
  • Ensure AHV Project teams are staffed and supported to successfully achieve all project milestones.
  • Establish and maintain consistent project controls, reporting standards, forecasting practices, and overall Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all assigned projects.
  • Work with Pre-Construction, Project Managers, and Engineering to develop and approve project budgets and effective procurement strategies.
  • Provide executive oversight of procurement strategies to ensure alignment with project goals, risk mitigation, and commercial outcomes.
  • Oversee review of major supplier and subcontractor bids to ensure scope completeness, pricing accuracy, and compliance with project specifications and requirements.
  • Review and approve cost reports, forecasts, and major change orders.
  • Partner with executive leadership to mitigate commercial risk and lead the resolution of any major project or vendor/subcontractor related issue.
  • Oversee the management of AHV's relationship with the client, vendors and subcontractors to support successful project execution on all projects.
  • Oversee all the project teams Work, being fully accountable for the project's: financials, safety, quality, schedule and ultimately, it's success.
  • Provide executive review and approval of all Project schedules, notifications. letters, payments, change order pricing, change order negotiation and finalization.
  • Ensure AHV's great reputation and client relationships are positively developed and protected.

The successful candidate will have the following Skills/Experience/Abilities:
  • Executive level leadership and decision making.
  • Construction experience required: civil, mechanical and electrical (Medium to High Voltage).
  • Demonstrated success in senior Project or Portfolio leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience hiring, supervising, and mentoring Project Managers.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage details across multiple complex projects.
  • Exceptional verbal, presentation, and written skills.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of EPC contracts change management, negotiation and claims resolution experience.
  • Strong construction financial reporting and forecasting acumen, including portfolio-level financial and risk management.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills (particularity Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam/Adobe, MS Project, Vista).
  • Outstanding time management, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Capability and inclination to research and self-teach unfamiliar subject matter.

Requirements:
  • College degree required, bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management preferred.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated success in Construction or High Voltage Substation or Transmission and Distribution Project Management.
  • Applicable experience: hiring, supervising and mentoring Project Managers.
  • PE License candidates preferred.
