Part-Time Program Assistant II

Join our Parks & Recreation team as a Part-Time Program Assistant II! This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with people, thinking creatively, and helping bring programs to life. You'll support teen programs, including the Teen Recreation Advisory Council (TRAC), assist with senior (55+) programs and trips, and help with group fitness offerings, including the opportunity to teach classes with appropriate certifications.

Much of the work takes place during regular daytime business hours, with occasional early mornings and overnight travel for senior trips. Driving is an important part of this role, as you'll transport participants using Town vehicles for local outings and special trips.

Key duties include:

  • Support teen, senior/active adult, and group fitness programs through hands-on facilitation and participant engagement.
  • Safely drive Town vehicles to transport participants for local programs, day trips, and select overnight trips.
  • Help develop creative, engaging programs, activities, and special events that build community and encourage participation.
  • Coordinate activities, trips, and leadership opportunities.
  • Support participant communication, scheduling, registration, and program logistics.
  • Assist with community outreach, partnerships, and program promotion.
  • Provide general administrative support, including recordkeeping, data entry, and program documentation.

Minimum requirements include being at least 21 years old, possessing a valid North Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record, and having strong communication and computer skills. Comfortable driving Town vehicles and transporting participants to programs and trips. Experience in recreation programming is preferred.

Hourly wage: $16-$20 per hour

Schedule: Primarily weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., up to 19 hours per week. Position also includes occasional early mornings, select overnight senior trips, and hours that may vary based on program and event needs.
