How much do product management jobs pay per year?

What skills boost PM salary?

Product Management (PM) salaries are often increased by skills such as data analysis, user experience design, technical knowledge, and strong communication. Proficiency in tools like Jira, SQL, and roadmapping software, along with certifications like Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), can also enhance earning potential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Product Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Product Manager, you need a strong understanding of market research, product lifecycle management, and strategic planning, often supported by a background in business, engineering, or related fields. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Trello, product analytics platforms, and certification such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) is common. Outstanding communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help Product Managers align diverse teams and prioritize competing demands. These abilities are essential to successfully drive product vision, ensure effective collaboration, and deliver solutions that meet customer and business needs.

Is product manager a high paying job?

Product managers typically earn high salaries compared to many other roles, with compensation often reflecting experience, industry, and company size. In addition to base pay, they may receive bonuses, stock options, and other benefits, making it a financially rewarding career path for those with strong leadership and technical skills.

What is product management?

Product management is a business role focused on guiding the success of a product and leading the cross-functional team responsible for improving it. Product managers are involved in every stage of a product’s lifecycle, from conception and development to launch and ongoing optimization. They work closely with engineering, marketing, sales, and other departments to ensure that the product meets customer needs and business goals. Product managers also define product strategy, prioritize features, and help deliver products that provide value to users.

What is the difference between Product Management vs Business Analysis?

AspectProduct ManagementBusiness Analysis
Primary FocusDeveloping product strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle managementAnalyzing business processes, requirements, and solutions
Skills & CertificationsProduct management certifications (e.g., Pragmatic, Scrum), market researchBusiness analysis certifications (e.g., CBAP), process modeling
Work EnvironmentCross-functional teams, product development cyclesBusiness units, project teams, process improvement
Industry UsageTech, retail, manufacturing, any product-driven industryFinance, healthcare, IT, and other sectors requiring process analysis

While both roles involve understanding business needs, Product Management focuses on creating and managing products throughout their lifecycle, whereas Business Analysis concentrates on analyzing and improving business processes and requirements. Both roles are essential in product development but serve different strategic and operational purposes.

What do product managers do?

Product managers oversee the development and lifecycle of a product, coordinating between engineering, design, marketing, and other teams to ensure the product meets customer needs and business goals. They define product vision, prioritize features, and manage timelines using tools like roadmaps and analytics. Strong communication, strategic thinking, and understanding of market trends are essential skills for this role.

How does a Product Manager typically balance stakeholder expectations while keeping the development team focused on priorities?

Product Managers often serve as the bridge between stakeholders—such as customers, executives, and sales teams—and the development team. One common challenge is aligning diverse stakeholder requests with the product vision and roadmap, ensuring that the development team isn't overwhelmed by shifting priorities. Effective Product Managers use clear communication, structured prioritization frameworks (like RICE or MoSCoW), and regular check-ins to manage expectations and keep the team focused on delivering the highest-impact features. This collaborative, transparent approach helps build trust and keeps everyone aligned toward shared goals.

What are top 3 skills for a product manager?

A product manager needs strong communication skills to coordinate teams and stakeholders, analytical abilities to interpret data and make informed decisions, and technical understanding to work effectively with development teams. Additionally, skills in strategic thinking and user-centered design are highly valuable in managing product lifecycle and ensuring market fit.

Job description

Tatari is on a mission to revolutionize TV advertising. Founded in 2016 to help transform the antiquated world of TV advertising through the intelligent application of AI and machine learning, Tatari helps some of the world's fastest growing brands including Chime, Calm, Tecovas, Manscaped, Saatva, and Liquid I.V., reach their customers using linear and streaming TV ads. Our platform combines sophisticated media buying with proprietary analytics to turn TV advertising into an automated, digital-like experience, enabling businesses of any size to advertise on TV.

That approach has earned Tatari broad industry recognition, including being named Best CTV AdTech Platform in the 8th annual MarTech Breakthrough Awards, as well as honors from Digiday (Best Connected TV Platform), AdExchanger (Most Innovative TV Advertising Technology), and Business Insider (Hottest AdTech Companies). Tatari has also been recognized as the Best Place to Work by Inc. Magazine. Backed by an executive team of former founders and senior leaders from companies including Shazam, TrueCar, AdapTV, LiveRail, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Yahoo, Tatari continues to scale rapidly as TV advertising enters its next major era.

As Director of Product Management, Media Buying & Optimization, you will set the vision and lead the execution of Tatari's next generation of AI-powered media buying and self-serve platforms. You will own the product strategy end-to-end-shaping a roadmap that accelerates company growth, unlocks automation at scale, and solves complex customer problems across the TV and CTV ecosystem. Partnering closely with executive leadership, engineering, data science, and media teams, you will bring differentiated, reliable solutions to market while building and developing a high-performing product organization. Your success will be defined by your ability to translate deep AdTech expertise and AI innovation into durable platforms-and to grow strong product leaders who can scale with the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale the Product Management organization responsible for media execution and intelligence across streaming, programmatic, and direct TV-owning the function end-to-end
  • Set a clear, unified product vision and roadmap for CTV and TV buying that reflects deep understanding of advertiser, agency, and media operations workflows in a rapidly evolving AdTech landscape
  • Drive industry differentiation through AI-powered automation, optimization, and intelligence, translating vision into executable strategy and measurable outcomes
  • Own prioritization across initiatives, balancing customer impact, business goals, platform scalability, and technical investment to deliver differentiated TV buying capabilities at scale
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Data Science, and Design to deliver reliable, high-quality platforms while maintaining speed and execution rigor
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Media Buying, Media Operations, Marketing, and Go-To-Market teams to ensure alignment from strategy through launch and adoption
  • Act as a subject-matter leader on CTV, programmatic TV, and media execution-staying ahead of industry trends, competitive offerings, and emerging AI technologies to shape Tatari's product strategy
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Product Managers, fostering strong ownership, accountability, and clear career growth paths

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of product management experience in AdTech, with deep expertise in streaming and programmatic CTV advertising; linear TV experience strongly preferred
  • Strong background in programmatic platforms (DSPs), media execution, and advertising operations, with the ability to translate complex workflows into scalable products
  • 6+ years of people management experience leading Product Managers, with a proven record of developing talent, improving team effectiveness, and delivering results through others
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives across engineering, data science, design, and media operations teams with diverse skill sets and seniority levels
  • Exceptional communicator and influencer, capable of articulating product vision and roadmap tradeoffs to senior leadership, partners, and customers with clarity and conviction
  • Deeply customer-centric, with expertise in uncovering real customer needs, defining strong product requirements, and delivering solutions that create meaningful business and user impact
  • Proven partnership with Design to solve complex problems through research, prototyping, and high-quality user experience decisions
  • Passion for automation and AI-driven innovation, with practical experience applying AI to real-world AdTech workflows in a scalable, production-ready way
  • Pragmatic, execution-focused leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and balances innovation with operational excellence

Benefits

  • Total compensation ($200,000 - 250,000/Annually)
  • Equity compensation
  • Health insurance coverage for you and your dependents
  • 401K, FSA, and commuter benefits
  • $150 monthly spending account
  • $1,000 annual continued education benefit
  • $500 Newbie Productivity Perk
  • Unlimited PTO and sick days
  • Monthly Company Wellness Day Off
  • Snacks, drinks, and catered lunches at the office
  • Team building events
  • Hybrid RTO of 2 days per week in office

At Tatari, we believe in the importance of cultivating teams with diverse backgrounds and offering equal opportunities to all. We strive to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where every team member feels valued and diversity is celebrated.
