Job description

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid - 3 Days in Office)
Reports to:ย Senior Manager, Product Development

A quick snapshot...
The Core Services Manager leads a platform team responsible for shared services that power the B2B ecosystem. This team delivers missioncritical capabilities across security, science execution, and analytics, enabling identity and access control, model packaging and execution, and customerfacing insights that allow administrators to understand, monitor, and manage platform usage across multiple B2B products and services.

Why it's a big deal...
Core Services are central to the developer, operator, and customer experience of the B2B platform. This role ensures that shared, crossproduct services-particularly those related to identity, science execution, and analytics-meet defined standards for security, reliability, scalability, performance, and ease of consumption. You will lead a team whose work establishes platformwide expectations for security posture, operational maturity, and service quality, directly influencing how B2B applications are built, deployed, and operated.

The role requires sound judgment, clear communication, and the ability to lead decisively through technical and organizational complexity.

What you'll be responsible for...

  • Lead, develop, and scale an engineering team responsible for highly leveraged capabilities spanning security, science execution, and analytics
  • Partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, and Product Security to define platform strategy, priorities, and standards across core service domains
  • Oversee the delivery and ongoing operation of core services that provide:
    • Security and Identity Capabilities: Delegated authentication, authorization, and accesscontrol patterns that integrate with customerprovided identity providers
    • Science Capabilities: Model packaging, deployment, execution, training, and scoring within B2B Cloud infrastructure, with a focus on scalability and operational readiness
    • Analytics Capabilities: Customerfacing insights that provide visibility into platform usage, health, and adoption
  • Ensure core services meet high standards for security, availability, performance, and operational excellence, reflecting their platformcritical nature
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and operational maturity for the team, including incident management, rootcause analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Engage with customerfacing teams and customers as needed to support issue resolution, handle escalations, and ensure platform concerns are addressed with urgency and clarity
  • Oversee communication related to customerimpacting issues and enhancements, including rootcause analysis, feature explanations, and progress updates through resolution
  • Make deliberate, wellreasoned decisions that balance customer impact, platform health, and team sustainability
  • Balance nearterm delivery commitments with longterm platform sustainability and architectural alignment
  • Coach and develop engineers and senior contributors, fostering strong technical leadership, accountability, and execution discipline
  • Collaborate effectively with Site Reliability Engineers, Security, Product, and customerfacing teams across the organization

What we're looking for...

  • 5+ years of professional experience in the software development industry
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineers in agile environments
  • Experience leading a shared platform or infrastructureadjacent team supporting multiple products or consumers
  • Strong peoplemanagement skills, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and career development
  • Experience partnering closely with Architecture and Security teams to deliver services that meet enterpriselevel standards
  • Ability to manage a broad technical scope within a single team while maintaining clarity of priorities and execution
  • Strong communication, planning, and crossfunctional collaboration skills

Here's what will give you an edge...

  • Experience leading shared platform or infrastructure services consumed by multiple products or teams
  • Experience working with microservicesbased architectures, including designing, operating, and evolving distributed services
  • Experience building and operating cloudbased applications, preferably on Microsoft Azure, at enterprise scale
  • Experience leading teams using agile development practices, balancing iteration speed with platform stability
  • Experience working closely with customers or customerfacing teams, ensuring platform capabilities meet high standards of reliability, performance, and usability
  • A demonstrated track record of making sound technical and delivery decisions in complex environments with competing priorities
  • Experience operating in ambiguous or evolving platform spaces, adapting plans as technology, scale, or business needs change
  • Proven ability to partner effectively across Product, Architecture, Security, and Engineering, balancing advocacy with pragmatism
  • Experience leading engineering teams with clear ownership, accountability, and delivery focus
  • A resultsoriented mindset, with experience driving measurable outcomes rather than activity alone
