A product development manager oversees all activities of the product development team. Product development managers are among the first on a team to begin assessing gaps in the market and potential for new products. Your duties include arranging for the testing of prototype versions of a product in small customer groups to gauge public reaction and make the necessary changes. As a product development manager, you hold almost ultimate responsibility for how the product performs at launch. A career as a product development manager requires you have some formal qualifications and education, typically a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a closely related field.
