Business Development Manager
Reports to: VP Sales & Technical Services
Location: Baltimore, MD
About the position:
We are looking for a business development manager to play a key role in identifying and developing under penetrated business channels. The focus will involve analyzing the food industry landscape where spices & seasonings are utilized and determining which channels we could enter and/or strengthen our presence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify potential sales channels that fit our core competencies.
  • Develop commercial strategies for new or under penetrated sales channels including market research on sales potential and target customer accounts.
  • Cooperate with Marketing to develop supporting sales materials for growth sales channels with a focus on defining our value proposition to each channel.
  • Research the latest in industry trends and creating new opportunities to expand business.
  • Lead efforts to identify new product sales channels in cooperation with marketing, sales and R&D.
  • Take lead responsibility for sales efforts for some target new accounts as preparation to handing these accounts over to sales as business progresses.
  • Train sales people on market strategies for target industry channel and products.
  • Participate in industry exhibits, trade fairs and meetings to facilitate identifying and developing sales strategies.
  • Develop effective working relationships with customers through regular meetings to identify and obtain further sales and business development opportunities.
  • Develop business case for investments necessary to pursue under penetrated channels and/or products
  • Work with and expand current prospect database within specified business sectors to generate effective leads and exceed sales targets for the business.
  • Represent company at industry events, including exhibits, round tables, speaking forums and new business events.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, interpretation, and team/project management.
  • Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have strong experience in Excel.
  • Must have experience with VLOOKUP pivot tables.
  • Teamwork, self-confidence, organizational prowess, and effective communication skills.
  • Substantial experience with ERP and CRM systems

Expected Salary Range: TBD
