As a Process Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
  • Lead or support new product commercialization activities, including process development, scale-up, validation, and manufacturing readiness
  • Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving process issues related to process conditions and material construction
  • Apply statistical and engineering methods to monitor, control, and improve process capability, reliability, and product consistency
  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve cost, quality, service, throughput, and yield within assigned areas
  • Support and implement improvements related to process safety, environmental performance, and equipment reliability
  • Evaluate capital planning needs and support equipment upgrades, modifications, and technology investments
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to plan and execute process trials, experiments, and data-driven improvement projects
  • Document technical findings, communicate recommendations clearly, and contribute to effective team decision-making

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • One (1) year of combined experience in manufacturing and/or product/process development in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Master's degree in engineering or science from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years of combined experience in manufacturing and/or product/process development in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Technical experience in polymer processing, extrusion, compounding, web handling, coating, lamination, adhesives, or roll-to-roll manufacturing
  • Experience with continuous improvement, process scale-up, equipment qualification, and manufacturing optimization
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control, process capability analysis, design of experiments, and root cause problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, and written/oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across technical and operations teams in a fast-paced environment
