Job description

About AoPS Academy
AoPS Academy is part of Art of Problem Solving (AoPS), a global leader in advanced K-12 math education. Since 1993, AoPS has helped discover, inspire, and train the next generation of great problem solvers - students who are excited by challenges, motivated to stretch their thinking, and eager to dive deep into complex ideas.
AoPS Academy brings the AoPS methodology to small, live, physical and virtual classrooms. We offer a world-class curriculum in math, science, and language arts for students in grades 1-12, seeking to build an environment where exploration meets challenge right in your local neighborhood. Students learn in small classes led by accomplished instructors and collaborate with a peer group who share their passion for learning. We have opened 20+ centers across the nation since 2016 and are still growing!
We focus on reasoning, creativity, rigorous problem-solving, and joyful intellectual challenge. Many of our students go on to excel in math Olympiads and other high-level competitions, but above all, they learn to think deeply and independently.
If you're passionate about academically ambitious learners and believe students rise to the level of challenge they're given, you'll feel right at home here.
Position Summary
The AoPS Academy Campus Director at our Carmel Valleycampus leads a vibrant, dynamic enrichment program where each day brings new opportunities to engage students, mentor instructors, and solve meaningful challenges. Key duties include engaging with families of both current and prospective students, growing campus enrollments, and ensuring a thriving learning community.
This might be the right job for you if you thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy solving problems creatively, and have the leadership, operational, and instructional skills to guide both staff and students. You'll combine your experience in education with strong people- management and strategic planning to create an academically excellent and welcoming campus.
If you're passionate about cultivating critical thinking, challenging students to solve complex problems, and inspiring a love of deep learning, we want to hear from you!
The Campus Director will:
  • Lead all day-to-day campus operations and ensure the campus meets the highest level of academic and customer service standard
  • Manage the full-time and part-time campus staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling
  • Drive student enrollments and retention to meet key objectives
  • Strategically manage and plan for budgets, staffing needs, student enrollments, and class schedules
  • Create a warm and welcoming campus environment for students, parents, and staff
  • Regularly meet with current and prospective families in-person and virtually
  • Teach the AoPS curriculum in dynamic, participation-oriented classes that focus on understanding and developing skills, not on rote memorization
  • Build community partnerships and attend outreach events to increase awareness of AoPS in the community and plan engaging educational events at the campus
  • Complete other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Director

The ideal candidate has: All of the following required qualifications:
  • Teaching experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Math or Language Arts subject matter expertise
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience with demonstrated skill in effectively hiring, managing, and evaluating diverse teams of employees

Some or most of the following preferred qualifications:
  • Advanced degree
  • Primary/secondary teaching experience, particularly with advanced students
  • Experience supervising other managers
  • Experience managing in an educational environment
  • Marketing, recruitment, or community engagement experience

Work Schedule:
AoPS Academy is an after-school program; most of our classes and operational responsibilities occur during the evenings and on weekends. As such, it's expected that Directors work a nontraditional schedule during the school year. Summer hours typically shift to a more standard Monday to Friday work schedule.
Why Join AoPS:
This position includes a starting salary range of 146k - 153k.
Impact: Opportunity to work closely with motivated students, and a team of passionate educators in pursuit of our shared mission
Culture: Work and collaborate with an organization filled with builders and life-long learners who strive to discover, inspire, and train the great problem solvers of the next generation
