What does a performance improvement specialist do?
A performance improvement specialist works in the health care industry to improve patient care. As a performance improvement specialist, your duties begin with an overall assessment of how a health care facility, such as a hospital or clinic, is performing when it comes to patient care and outcomes. You then analyze this data, create improvement strategies, and help implement changes. You also oversee process documentation and workshops. The career qualifications for a performance improvement specialist vary depending on the employer and work environment. Some employers prefer candidates to have a bachelor’s degree in health care administration, while other positions require a nursing degree. Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a team.
